SUMMARY OF PRINCIPAL & MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: The Marketing Manager is responsible for formulating and implementing marketing strategies designed to enhance user engagement and increase awareness for the Visit Corpus Christi international award winning portfolio of brands. Under the supervision of the Senior Director of Marketing, they supervise industry-leading diverse marketing endeavors encompassing digital content development, social media execution, and campaign implementation. This role demands a solid comprehension of digital marketing patterns, exceptional communication proficiencies, and adept collaboration with internal and external partners.

The Marketing Manager will be expected to possess a considerable degree of initiative, discipline, tenacity, and attention to detail while being highly regarded for their past work. The role involves proactively presenting innovative ideas and solutions to enhance the effectiveness of our social media presence and engagement strategies.

CLASSIFICATION: FULL-TIME, EXEMPT: Bi-Monthly, Salary.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Essential Functions):

  • Develop and implement an overarching editorial calendar and strategy, ensuring consistency with our brand voice and content pillars.
  • Create compelling and optimized content across major social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest, TikTok, and more.
  • Produce and publish diverse content types, including blogs, website content, e-newsletters, social media posts, video scripts, and infographics.
  • Create engaging photo and video storytelling content to be published across channels.
  • Coordinate digital projects with external vendors such as SimpleView, Crowdriff, Act On, Bandwango, and ManyChat.
  • Oversee the digital asset management (DAM) library to maintain a well-organized repository of photos, videos, and galleries.
  • Execute social media campaigns to support key organizational initiatives, partnerships, holidays, festivals, and collaborations.
  • Conduct research, brainstorming, and development of marketing projects and campaigns in collaboration with the marketing team.
  • Apply search engine optimization (SEO) strategies and best practices in content development and execution.
  • Monitor social media platforms, engage with visitors, and respond to inquiries to foster positive relationships.
  • Utilize data tracking, social media listening tools, and analytics to measure engagement and sentiment.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Director of Marketing and Data Director to track and report on organic and paid social media advertising efforts.
  • Strategically update the Visit Corpus Christi website to serve as a primary resource for trip planners, stakeholders, and community members.
  • Stay informed about developments in the hospitality industry and local events in Corpus Christi.
  • Stay current on the latest trends in destination marketing by attending conferences, webinars, and workshops.

Other Functions

  • Travel to attend industry events and to promote the destination to potential visitors (Up to 15% of the year)
  • Any additional duties as assigned.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Strong leadership and management skills and ability to willingly make procedural decisions, exhibiting sound and accurate judgment while making timely decisions.
  • Extensive knowledge of Corpus Christi and its attractions.
  • Provides strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with various constituencies in a diverse community, including managers, co-workers, customers, and the public in general.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations, demonstrate group presentation skills and conduct productive meetings.
  • Ability to stay current on the latest trends in marketing, as well as the tourism industry and its trends.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships and work well with others as part of a team.
  • Strong editorial, communication, and project management skills, meticulous attention to quality and detail, and a high level of flexibility.
  • Proficiency in executing paid social media marketing campaigns and a solid grasp of SEO, PR, design, and branding best practices.
  • Ability to craft content that resonates with the voice and tone of a brand.
  • Skill in distilling complex concepts into compelling narratives and executing them through a strategic content framework, including themes, categories, and rich media assets.
  • Demonstrated expertise in implementing digital marketing initiatives tailored to meet the needs of a Destination Marketing Organization brand.
  • Effective communication abilities with demonstrated proficiency in group presentations; advanced experience in creating PowerPoint presentations.
  • Working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheets computer applications.
  • Proficiency in soft design skills, including photography and video editing.
  • Ability to travel up to 15% of the time annually.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and, at times, stressful environment.
  • Ability to proactively plan, develop, manage, and coordinate multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Ability to espouse high ethical standards and expect the same from all others in the organization.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships and work well with others as part of a team.

  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle, either personal or company, for various Visit Corpus Christi businesses.

Education, Training, and Experience:

  • 5 years of successful marketing communications experience, focusing on digital and social media content development.
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or a related field preferred.

License/Certifications:

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and must be insurable under VCC's current motor vehicle insurance policy.

Computer Software:

  • Microsoft Office, (Excel/Word/Outlook/Teams skills required).
