Universal Woods is Hiring a Facilities Manager Near Mc Kees Rocks, PA

Purpose: The Facilities Manager will install, maintain, and repair machinery, equipment, physical structures, pipe, and electrical systems in a high throughput industrial manufacturing environment.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None at this time

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures that the facility’s equipment and machines are maintained properly and working correctly through visual inspection and testing.
  • Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
  • Installs and repairs electrical equipment such as transformers, wiring, electric, and electronic components of equipment.
  • Design, implementation, and maintenance of pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.
  • Repair and replace gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and other equipment
  • Oversees the facility’s maintenance program; identifies and analyzes equipment or machinery failures and takes corrective actions.
  • Maintain and repair physical structure of manufacturing site.
  • Operate cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
  • Set up and operation of machine tools such as lathe, grinder, drill, and milling machine to repair or fabricate machine parts.
  • Fabricate and repair couters, benches, partitions, and other wooden structures.
  • Dismantles defective equipment and installs new or repaired parts.
  • Provides technical training to management and other team members.
  • Coordinates work performed by outside contractors, vendors, and engineering consultants.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Work in conjunction with safety to identify, triage, and fix known issues.
  • Other duties as agreed or expected.

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Thorough understanding of mechanical engineering.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Must be able to read and write English.
  • Must be regular, dependable in attendance and willing to devote necessary effort for timely completion of tasks.
  • Must be committed to company beliefs, mission, and objectives.
  • Must be able to work independently and as a team member to accomplish the objective and fulfill the mission.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills necessary to work courteously and effectively with a diverse group of team members, customers, and suppliers.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before employees of organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Education & Experience:

  • Must possess a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred.
  • Five years of experience in manufacturing industry preferred.

Physical Requirements & Travel:

  • Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
  • Reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to stand; walk; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crawl, or crouch.
  • Occasionally required to sit or smell.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Infrequent travel to company headquarters in Louisville, KY may be required

Work Environment

  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
  • Frequently exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock.
  • Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; outside weather conditions; extreme heat; risk of radiation and vibration.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
