Job Summary:

We are currently seeking an Area Director of Sales is responsible for the overall topline sales and marketing for the Courtyard by Marriott, Yonkers & Residence Inn by Marriott Yonkers, NY- complex. This role has the responsibility to achieve optimal occupancy, ADR growth to maximize total revenue while meeting/exceeding hotel group, business transient and catering objectives for each hotel.

Responsibilities include implementing and executing the strategy that will allow the hotel to exceed market performance and maximizing revenue for both hotels. This individual will oversee operations of the hotel sales department including and not limited to direct sales & follow-up. Including sales administration, hiring & training of staff, managing and coaching.

Job Description:

· This position will encourage and perpetuate a positive team attitude amongst all employees and management that focuses on revenue building and exceeding guest expectations

· Develop and implement weekly and monthly reports to keep the hotel and corporate office informed of sales activities & opportunities

· Ensure compliance with AAM15 Management sales, marketing, catering, conference service and revenue management guidelines and business standards

· Proactive engagement with Marriott’s Global and Regional Sales Teams to promote and drive business into our hotels

· Maintains accurate, organized, and current file management system to service client and employer in the most expedient, organized, and knowledgeable manner

· Develops customer profiles and maintain an effective trace system, to best meet client needs, resulting in superior service

· Promptly follows-up on all customer needs and inquiries set by brand and management

· Develop and execute quarterly action plans to support the hotels strategy

· Establish goals for sales team and monitor performance on a regular basis

· Proactive community engagement, acting as the representative of the hotel attending local industry events, promoting tourism and business to the local area and hotels

· The position requires active solicitation of new and existing accounts, utilizing a variety of prospecting methods including but not limited to telephone and outside calls to potential client's locations

· Assist the hotel leadership teams in evaluating sales opportunities and challenges; develop/execute a hands-on sales game plan that will drive the best business at the best rates into the hotel

· Regularly review pace reports and sales productivity reports for the hotels and identify periods of opportunity, while recognizing and celebrating the team

· Utilize & analyze the Revenue Management tools to identify trends in lost and turndown business opportunities

· Participate and prepare for each hotel’s monthly financial reviews and hotels annual budget process. Monitor hotel sales expenses against budget throughout the year

· Assist in the process of setting guestroom rates at each managed hotel to maximize sales within the competitive environment.

· Monitor STAR reports, competitive rates, and other pricing diagnostic tools available. Make recommendations for corrective action as needed

· Collaborate and communicate with all departments within each hotel to ensure all teams are educated and understand all employees are part of the sales team

Qualification Standards: 

Experience:

· Minimum of 4 years hotel sales and leadership experience, primarily in extended stay and select service focused hotel environments

· College degree or equivalent experience

· Management of Dual Properties a plus

· Positive hospitality attitude with the ability to lead, motivate & inspire a team

· Requires knowledge of sales techniques, revenue management, and customer service skills

· Excellent written, verbal, and non-verbal communication skills

· Ability to solve problems and make good business decisions

· Experience with brand sales systems; Delphi and Fosse experience preferred

· Must be proficient in MS, Excel, and Teams

· Experience with Profit Sword a plus

· Ability to read, analyze and interpret hotel specific reports

· Ability to effectively present information, respond to questions from leadership, internal and external clients, managers, and the public

· Individual of high ethical standards of conduct
