Summit Trailer Manufacturing, Inc. is Hiring a Production Manager - Industrial Near Portland, OR

Job Overview:

Summit Trailer, a premier manufacturer of Dump, Tiltbed, Tiny Home, and utility trailers is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Production Manager to join our Management Team in our Portland Oregon location. We produce the best trailers in the industry, and provide a unique team-based, employee-centric work environment. You will oversee our welding operations and drive efficiency, quality, and productivity, using our team environment, Lean Manufacturing, and Continuous Improvement to leverage the best solutions.

Position Overview:
We are looking for a results-oriented Manager to lead our welding operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in production management within the manufacturing industry using Lean Manufacturing, with a focus on process optimization, team leadership, and continuous improvement initiatives. The Production Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of their teams, ensuring adherence to quality standards, maximizing efficiency, and driving overall operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lean Manufacturing: You will be the leader and driver in making Lean Manufacturing not just a way of life but a company culture. You will focus on eliminating waste at all levels. Drive a culture of continuous improvement throughout the organization, encouraging employees to identify and implement process improvements.
  • Production Planning and Scheduling: Develop and implement production plans to meet customer demand while optimizing resources and minimizing costs.
  • Quality Assurance: Implement and maintain a quality control system to ensure that all products meet our rigorous quality standards, while at the same time driving defects down through solid RCCA.
  • Team Leadership: Provide strong leadership to the welding teams, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Drive and develop additional key performance indicators (KPIs) as needed to track and measure operational performance and provide regular reports to the Management Team.
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies and promote a safe working environment for all employees.
  • Team Development: You will perform all performance reviews, perform all aspects of hiring, provide guidance, praise, and discipline.

Qualifications:

  • Lean Manufacturing experience is required. Experience directing and supporting waste elimination projects, training basic concepts like 6S, Standard Work, Line Balance, Visual Factory, and Point of Use is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in production management within the manufacturing industry, preferably in products using welding, with a track record of success in improving efficiency and driving operational excellence. Trailer manufacturing is a huge plus.
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in manufacturing operations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
