We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Accounting Specialist to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for executing various accounting tasks with precision, ensuring the accuracy of financial records, and supporting the overall financial operations of our growing company.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Accounts Payable and Receivable Management:

• Process invoices, payments, and reimbursements in a timely manner.
• Verify and reconcile accounts payable and receivable transactions.
• Communicate effectively with vendors and clients regarding payment status and discrepancies.

General Ledger Maintenance:

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date general ledger entries.
• Prepare journal entries, adjustments, and accruals as necessary.
• Assist in month-end and year-end closing procedures.

Financial Reporting:

• Support the Controller in the preparation of financial reports such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements / projections for internal and external stakeholders.
• Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement.

Additional Support:

• Assist with monitoring of internal control environment.
• Address audit inquiries and provide necessary support to auditors.
• Obtain an understanding of our payroll process to support our Payroll Manager.
• Work with the Controller to create efficiencies throughout the entire finance function.
• Assist in the preparation and filing of tax returns and other miscellaneous filings.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Proven work experience in a similar or developing role.
• Proficiency in MS Excel (firm foundation, willing to develop skills further).
• Experience with Vista accounting software is considered an asset.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently and as part of the accounting team, while being able to work under deadlines and pressure.
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong written and oral communication skills and effective listening skills.
• Active community involvement is considered an asset.

Pay Range: 45K – 65K annually - based on qualifications and experience.
