Strange’s is seeking a full time Greenhouse Grower at the Short Pump location for retail growing operations. The Greenhouse Grower is responsible for planting and maintaining annual crops as well as overseeing the progress of work tasks in the retail greenhouse environment with the guidance of the Greenhouse Manager.

Hours vary throughout the year based on growing seasons, full time benefits offered, and blooming annual plant knowledge required. 2 years experience in greenhouse growing preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Controls plant growth of multiple blooming crops (planting, potting, cutting, spraying, etc)
• Assists in determining the types and quantities of horticultural plants to be grown based on budget and projected sales volume alongside the Greenhouse Manager
• Monitors and supervises greenhouse team members on daily tasks such as watering, fertilizing, transplanting, spacing, pruning, and general maintenance of annual greenhouse crops
• Mentors and leads greenhouse team members on daily tasks needed to grow and maintain all crops
• Monitors greenhouse environments and equipment
• Creates a bi-weekly spray schedule alongside the Houseplant Department Lead
• Collaborates with the Greenhouse Manager to determine weekly priorities/department goals
• Maintains greenhouse safety and cleanliness
• Communicates frequently with the Greenhouse Buyer to ensure quality control
• Assists customers with product information
• Determines plant placement and organization
• Monitors and controls greenhouse environments (i.e. climate control)
• Accurately records production data
• Ensures that all planting meets quality expectations
