Snider-Blake is Hiring a Safety Manager Near Northlake, TX

A global leader in third party logistics is seeking a Safety Manager for the DFW metro area. This position is a direct-hire permanent opportunity. Interested applicants should respond to this listing with a resume.

Summary:

Plans, implements, and coordinates all Safety and Workers Compensation Programs to reduce or eliminate job injuries, illnesses, deaths, and financial losses.

Job Description:

  • Develops accident-prevention and loss-control systems and programs for incorporation into operational policies of the organization.
  • Track all incidents and develop a monthly report of the total incident for the month that provides proactive data on the types of incidents/injuries.
  • Assist sites with submitting incident reports and one page summaries of all incidents to share for best practices or lessons learned as well as reporting incident information to the customer.
  • Monitors workers’ compensation program to ensure cost containment, compliance with existing law and to provide adequate service to employees. Maintains liaison with legal counsel, physicians, hospitals and clinics and effects contracts for appropriate services.
  • Establishes and maintains a modified work program for employees with restrictions.
  • Schedule and oversee the company’s safety committee.
  • Maintain an action tracker of activities relative to safety, security, and compliance.
  • Obtain and log the sites exposure hours monthly by the required deadline.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA’s 29 CFR 1910 regulations as well as local and state regulatory compliance and provide interpretation and guidance of these regulations.
  • Manage and be a member of the Emergency Response Team.
  • Establish organization-wide standards and best practices including developing policies, procedures, and workflows for safety.
  • Plan, organize, direct and control activities to ensure delivery of all Health & Safety plan objectives and targets.
  • Work closely with operations to identify risks and develop / implement a control methodology for these risks.
  • Ensure regulatory reports are completed accurately and reviewed thoroughly and submitted on time.
  • Continuously identifies, assesses, and reduces/eliminates Health & Safety risk.
  • Investigates all accidents and injuries; recommends and/or coordinates corrective actions. The individual in this position must be capable of performing all the essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Working Environment:

  • Assignment Complexity - Work on problems of diverse scope where analysis of situation or data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Exercise judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Act as advisor to subordinate(s) to meet schedules and/or resolve technical problems. Develop and administer budgets, schedules, and performance requirements.
  • Accountability – Manage through site managers & supervisors or professionals in the coordination of the activities for functional area with responsibility for results in terms of costs, methods, and employees.
  • Impact of Decisions – Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve goals results in additional costs and personnel, and serious delays in overall schedules.
  • Working Relationships – Frequently interact with subordinates, customers, and/or functional peer managers. May interact with senior management. Interactions normally involve matters between functional areas, other company divisions or units, or customers.
  • Scope – Receive assignments in the form of objectives and establish goals to meet objectives. Provide guidance to subordinates to achieve goals in accordance with established policies. Work is reviewed and measured based on meeting objectives and schedules. Establishes and recommends changes to policies which affect subordinate organization(s).
  • Travel - Travel between warehouse and facility locations required in the Columbus metro area. Travel outside of Columbus 1-10%

Essential Functions:

  • Must be able to pass any federal/state/local government, airport, or company-required background checks, clearances, and/or drug and alcohol tests.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint
  • Proficient in Google Suites (Google Slides, Google Sheet and Google Docs).

Knowledge and Skills (The following minimum requirements are normal guidelines and should not constrain the advancement of otherwise qualified personnel):

  • Exceptional interpersonal, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills required.
  • The ability to multi-task is a must.
  • Degree in Occupational Health & Safety or related field preferred but not required depending on experience.
  • Prefer 2-4 years of experience leading a safety program and/or managerial level experience within operations.
  • Must be able to prepare and present presentation data monthly.
  • Dangerous good and hazardous materials experience a bonus.
  • CFR29 experience preferred.
  • Hand's on experience with equipment and investigations a plus.
  • OSHA30 a plus.
  • Root cause analysis a plus.
  • Certified OSHA trainers a plus.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
