Summary

To transport and deliver petroleum products to customers by applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations and roads in the area. Provides light maintenance to stores, fuel pumps and equipment. Performs inventory reconciliation and other general tasks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Drives the tank truck to deliver petroleum gas to customers.
• Reads gauges or meters.
• Records amount delivered and issues tickets to customers using a handheld computer.
• Submits trip reports, at the end of each daily route
• Inspect the truck for defects and safe operating conditions before, during and after trips and submit a written report on the condition of the truck at the end of each trip or tour of duty.
• Apply knowledge of commercial driving and skills in maneuvering the vehicle at varying speeds in difficult situations, such as heavy traffic, inclement weather and in or out of tight areas.
• Communicates daily schedule to office staff for delivery coordination.
• Perform all duties in accordance with company policies and procedures, and comply with all federal, state and local regulations for the safe operation of a commercial motor vehicle.
• Report all accidents involving driver or company equipment.
• Promptly report any delays due to breakdowns, weather or traffic conditions or other emergencies, or in the event of irregularities relating to pick up or delivery.
• Perform before, during- and after-operation required “user maintenance” and provide required reports.
• Provide outstanding customer service during delivery and pickup operations.
• Maintain all required certifications required by DOT and OSHA and company safety programs.
• Occasional weekend work required during winter months

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or GED.

1 year of relevant experience

Language Skills

Ability to read and communicate effectively with coworkers.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Valid driver's license and be insurable

Valid CDL License (Class B) including DOT physical as required

HAZMAT & Tanker Endorsements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet while in the office or moderately loud when in the field.

Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
