Refugee Artisan Initiative is Hiring a Grant Writer Near Seattle, WA

BACKGROUND

Refugee Artisan Initiative (RAI) partners with refugee and immigrant women as they work to achieve economic stability. At RAI, artisans overcome barriers to employment through skills and micro business training while handcrafting goods from recycled materials.

POSITION SUMMARY:

RAI is seeking a contract Grant Writer to help maintain and grow the organization’s robust portfolio of grants. This position will join the organization’s current grant writer and, in collaboration with the Director of Development & Communications, Director of Business Development, and Executive Director, will manage the cultivation, research, proposal creation, and reporting for selected funding opportunities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Prospect Research

  • Study and understand the history, structure, objectives, programs and financial needs of RAI
  • Research grant opportunities from government agencies, corporations, and foundations

Relationship Building

  • Maintain positive relationships with stakeholders
  • Initiate contact with prospective funders to introduce RAI and explore opportunities for partnership
  • Attend information sessions for RFPs
  • Respond to internal and external queries on drafted and submitted proposals

Proposal Writing

  • Draft grant proposals and supporting documents based on the funding requirements of the organization
  • Submit proposals for approval

Reporting

  • Track metrics and outcomes
  • Write and submit grant reports
  • Collaborate with finance team for financial reporting requirements
  • Update CRM with funder info and contact reports
  • Acknowledge and appreciate funders

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 3 years of professional fundraising experience with grant writing with a proven track record of success
  • Experience applying for public funding
  • Experience managing federal funding and reporting
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Excellent knowledge of proposal submission and fundraising process
  • Ability to study and understand programs and funding requirements of the organization
  • Strong research skills and knowledge of information sources
  • Multitasking, organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to handle confidential matters with utmost integrity
  • Must be a self-starter and work independently while also being collaborative and a fantastic team player
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at once and prioritize tasks as needed
  • Ability to thrive in a changing environment and to remain flexible and adaptive
  • Proficient computer skills in CRM/donor databases, Google Docs, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • High degree of ownership – able to proactively identify opportunities and propose solutions, willing to roll up sleeves and pitch in on a variety of tasks
  • Perform other duties as assigned

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience applying for capital campaign funding
  • Familiarity with HUD reporting portal

The Grant Writer will be required to travel to RAI in Lake City one day a week. The work environment's noise level varies depending on project production, meetings, and points of service in the community.

Pay: $45.00 - $50.00 per hour
