Job Title: Sales & Sponsorship Specialist

Department: Development

Status: Unrepresented, non-exempt, regular status, full-time, benefits eligible

Rate: Hourly $28 - $32

The Sales & Sponsorship Specialist is responsible for a high earning and well-organized venue rental program for the Museum of Ventura County. Reporting to the Development & Community Outreach Director, the Sales & Sponsorship Specialist collaborates and cooperates with Programs, Curatorial, and Events staff to promote, sell, and manage the event rental space(s) at the Museum of Ventura County. Additionally, this position is responsible for a portion of Event Sponsorship asks throughout the year.

· In coordination and cooperation with the Senior Management team, plans, develops, and manages a professional, well-organized venue rental and sales program

· Responsible for sales of the venue, with measurable benchmark growth plans

· Works with the Marketing Manager for the event sales and venue rental marketing and advertising collateral, both hardcopy and web based

· Develops and maintains all event rental policies, planning tools, procedures, and documentation including the Event Sales Handbook, day planning tools, sales prospecting procedures, and event planning outlines, as well as any additional documentation

· Works with the Programs and Development Departments to ensure that all Museum event and program offerings are cohesive

· Meets or exceeds yearly sales plan

· Responsible for development and marketing of standard sales packages for rental venue

· Provides technical assistance and/or direct support for internal Museum events

· In collaboration with Development department, secures small to mid-level sponsorships for internal events.

Representative Tasks:

· Acquire and contract new and repeat business through inbound and outbound phone calls, web leads, and in person meetings.

· Attend networking events, trade shows, and work with destination companies to develop a presence as a premier event location, while creating new business for the Museum Event Department.

· Build Standard Event Sales Packages:

o Work with local business to create partnership packages for Museum clients, ie Clocktower Inn, Parks & Recreation, and City of Ventura.

o Event Menu Packages: will work with DJ’s to include tiered menu packages, VIP services, and holiday menus. This will include use of Museum and DJ rentals.

o Standard flat hourly fee package, business meeting packages, wedding packages, cocktail hour packages; weekend seminar packages, etc.

· Research, secure, and implement appropriate sales and event software

· Train onsite Museum team members on event execution and client meet and greets if needed.

· Build sales reporting documents; responsible for tracking sales and reporting monthly.

· Work with Museum planning committee on Master Calendar Schedule of Events to streamline in house events with client events.

· Work with Marketing team on comprehensive advertising programs; social media, hard copy assets, and web presence all with a focus on the Event Sales Department.

· Work with Marketing Department and photographer to build a digital photo album of all events – curated to express the Museum’s diverse event space.

· Meet with clients on site for venue tours as needed.

· Plan and execute quarterly or semiannual event planner mixers to obtain new business.

Minimum Position Requirements (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Attitudes)

· Three years of progressively more responsible event sales and project management experience

· Proven work experience as a Project Manager in a fast-paced environment

· Proven track record of event sales management and a growth mindset

· Strong organization, time management, teamwork, and prioritization skills

· Genuine enthusiasm for the services and mission of the Museum of Ventura County

· Proficiency in MS Office and other software programs

· Experience with marketing campaigns on social media and general experience administering social media accounts

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills demonstrated ability to work well with a diversity of people

· Excellent presentation skills

Preferred (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Attitudes):

· Experience in a nonprofit or museum setting.

· Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
