Job Description

Setup, adjust and operate CNC Turning Centers. Must be able to setup, program and operate sub-spindle y-axis, and bar feeder style centers.

Skills and Abilities

To be successful, the candidate should possess the following skills:

• Follow technical instruction that will include reading and interpreting engineering drawings and conceptual drawings.
• Mechanical aptitude as it relates to primarily CNC, but also manual machining, turning, assembling, metal polishing, and shop maintenance and upkeep.
• Ability to use measuring devices including; test indicator, dial caliper, micrometer, height gages, and scales.
• Ability to operate knee-mill, lathe, and drill press with basic proficiency.
• Ability to set up tools and create tool and work offsets.

Position Responsibilities

Typical responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

• Follow instruction of other Team Members, Management, and Engineering.
• Perform simple and moderate milling, drilling, and tapping operations on machining centers and turning centers.
• Perform simple, moderate and advanced turning operations on lathes.
• Perform simple and moderate operations on Drill Press.
• Set-up CNC turning centers.
• Troubleshoot, and debug programs and set-ups.
• Load parts on machining fixtures.
• Clean and maintain machines per published Maintenance Schedule.
• Perform QC on machined components by comparing measurements to engineering drawings and tolerances.
• Metal finishing (polishing), de-burring, and cleaning of machined components that include; tooling, custom machined products, machined castings and fixture components.
• Contribute in a positive manner to Continuous Improvement Process (CIP), meant to improve efficiency, improve safety, improve work-flow, and improve quality.

Required Education and Training and Experience

• Strong technical writing, communication, team, and organizational skills
• Good mechanical aptitude and ability
• High School diploma or GED required. No college or trade-school required, but formal training is a plus
• Machine shop experience is required

Physical Requirements

• Work in a moderately noisy environment that includes loud machining operations, air grinders, and other background noise.
• Stand for 8 hours day
• Ability to operate small hand tools, etc.
• Eye sight good enough to read print on engineering drawings, numbers on measuring equipment, and see fine detail on tooling and parts.

Pay: $26.00 - $34.00 per hour
