Job Summary:

The Senior Purchasing Specialist in Manufacturing plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient procurement of materials and supplies necessary for our manufacturing operations. This position requires exceptional communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to manage internal and external vendor relationships effectively. The Senior Purchasing Specialist will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring goods and services that meet the quality and cost standards of our manufacturing processes.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Reviews ERP-MRP to understand the material requirements across all product lines within multiple plants.
  • Confers with vendors to obtain product information such as price, availability, forecast and delivery schedule.
  • Estimates values according to knowledge of market price.
  • Determines the method of procurement. Production or Service
  • Prepares purchase orders in accordance with established procedures.
  • Reviews bid proposals and negotiates contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority.
  • Maintains procurement records, including items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories.
  • Evaluates and monitors vendors’ performance to ensure they meet quality and delivery standards.
  • Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine the source of trouble and take corrective action.
  • Manages Customer and Supplier Loop pack requirements.
  • Approves invoices for payment if requested by the Accounting Department.
  • Maintains and monitors inventory levels of all Purchased components to ensure materials are readily available for production.
  • Expedites delivery of goods to users to minimize production delays.
  • Develops and assures compliance with industry-specific quality standards.
  • Performs miscellaneous duties and projects as assigned and required.
  • Experienced in procuring materials for multiple locations and Warehouses from a central location.

  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Clear understanding of entire Supply Chain functions.
  • Excellent understanding of forecast and how it relates to purchasing Functions
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software including Excel knowledge.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or supply chain preferred. Will consider 7 years’ experience in lieu of degree.
  • Proven experience in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain management in a manufacturing environment.

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Must be able to lift 25 pounds at times.
