Job Title: Lab Supervisor

Company: INVE Aquaculture, Inc. (USA)

Job Purpose

Lead all laboratory analyses, tests, documentation and communicate results of multiple Artemia raw material and finished products to ensure product quality is in accordance with label statement and process orders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan a variety of quality control tests for multiple Artemia products
  • Investigate and resolve abnormal test results, whether due to laboratory or process problems
  • Review, manage, and submit final lab results to other departments
  • Organize and maintain quality control test data in SharePoint
  • Calibrate and perform normal maintenance on all lab equipment
  • Coordinate calibration of lab equipment needing third party calibration
  • Organize storage tests, blind tests, and annual internal audits for the lab
  • Update all files related to the lab and maintain good document traceability (Work instruction documents, lab recording forms, chemical safety information, calibration certificates, etc.)
  • Order and maintain inventory of lab supplies, chemicals, and lab office supplies
  • Communicate with global co-workers regarding laboratory information
  • Communicate and comply with local government regarding proper chemical disposal laws
  • Complete special projects and reports as assigned
  • Assure that all duties are performed safely and incompliance with all environmental, health and safety requirements
  • Update information on LIMS/SAP system
  • Send out monthly reports
  • Help organize and coordinate Product Support tests when needed
  • Download and update data from temperature loggers (shipping/production loggers)
  • Update and maintain mass balance data
  • Over see the organization and maintainance of shipping/recieveing of third party lab samples and data
  • Understand the quality control process to help back up QA/QC manager when needed
  • Responsible for Shelf-Life and Customer complaint samples submitted

Qualifications and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a field relating to aquaculture such as food science, biology, fisheries, or related fields
  • Microsoft Office experience (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
  • Prior experience working in a lab with proven managerial abilites
  • Basic Knowledge of GMP and HACCP systems
  • Basic knowledge of LIMS/SAP systems (not needed but preferred)

  • Establishing sustainable manufacturing-based quality systems that incorporates data analysis, root cause analysis, and corrective actions processed at the operator level.
  • Original thinking is required to utilize current resources and talent base to drive accountability and sustainable systems to the Technician level. Original thinking will also be required to assist the Quality Assurance Supervisors, Plant Manager and working jointly with the Production Supervisor
  • Effective oral and written communications
  • Ability to travel to various destinations if needed
  • Ability to build and develop relationships at all levels
  • Ability to attend meetings via Microsoft Teams with collegues around the globe
  • A self-starter comfortable with working remotely and with colleagues in a variety of international locations
  • Very fluent written/verbal communication skills in English
  • Good time management
  • Ability to make minor repairs in hatching lab when needed
