About the positionHelping Detroiters deal with the challenge of climate change by building resilient homes, neighborhoods and families is a key goal of Jefferson East Incorporated.

Reporting directly to JEI’s Senior Manager of Weatherization and Resilient Homes, the Energy Efficiency Repair Coordinator (EERC) will be responsible for deploying weatherization, energy efficiency, and decarbonization focused home repairs in efforts to reduce utility costs for residents and to create sustainable energy systems.

The EERC will primarily focus on our NSF Civic Decarbonization grant and other energy efficiency related programs, but will contribute to our other home repair programs as needed.

This position will also be responsible for providing Energy Case Management for our decarbonization ready and energy efficiency improvement clients.

Position Duties & ResponsibilitiesHome Repair Program Coordination & Operation-Oversee decarbonization focused home repair pilot programs within JEI’s service area.

  • Coordinate with team members to provide residents with a home repair plan that deploys JEI resources and leverages other home repair resources.
  • Support of JEI’s contracts to deliver services via DTE’s Energy Efficiency Program, MSHDA MICH, and other resilience focused home repair programs.
  • Collaborate with Home Repair team to manage contractor selection, vetting & bidding process, and ensure alignment with JEI’s Procurement Policy.
  • Participate in all stages of the home repair process from client intake to job completion and invoice submission. Our Ideal CandidateBuild Relationships : Build trust and easily form relationships (can relate to corporate, community and city representatives).

Trustworthy : You maintain privacy and confidentiality of all homeowner information given.EducationBachelor of Arts or a similar degreeExperience-Minimum 2 to 3 years of experience in community development, home repair or construction.

Demonstrable experience successfully interfacing with residents populations, especially those facing financial hardships.

Minimum Qualifications-Understanding of housing challenges within urban neighborhoods.-Demonstrated knowledge of general carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical work.

  • Experience procuring, selecting and monitoring subcontractors.-Experience reviewing housing inspection and housing assessment documents and preparing scopes of work.
  • Strong project management skills, including managing competing priorities and meeting deadlines.-Highly motivated, with proven capacity to work independently, take initiative, and thrive in high-paced entrepreneurial environment.
  • Flexible, with availability to work a weeknight and occasional Saturdays.-Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point), G-Suite for Nonprofits.
  • Ability to develop expertise in Salesforce CRM, ProntoForms, ETO, SDP and OIT and all other relevant partner databases.Preferred Qualifications-Knowledge of weatherization, energy efficiency, net zero, electrification and and decarbonization strategies.
  • Knowledge of existing home repair programs (EEA, MSHDA NEP, DHRF, Weatherization, Renew Detroit, etc.)-Understanding of the city of Detroit and the needs of its residents.
  • ASHI and / or InterNACHI sanctioned Home Inspector Certification.Compensation & Benefits-Salary between $50,000 - $53,000-Benefits include a 4% 401K match, Healthcare, Vision, Dental and Long-Term Disability.
  • Flexible work environment.-Generous PTOMinimum 2 to 3 years of experience in community development, home repair or construction.
