Handlery Hotel San Diego is Hiring a Banquets Bartender Near San Diego, CA

To prepare a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and serve them to guests in varied paced environments in the banquet facilities. To provide service to guests and fellow team members in a manner which meets or exceeds Handlery Hotels’ standards and to comply with established company and departmental policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

90% Build rapport through light conversation with guests and serve them in a professional, courteous, timely manner. Ensure proper cost control through correctly mixed and portioned drinks and entering sales. Have an excellent working knowledge of drink recipes, liquors, beer and wines. Upsell and suggestive sell beverages to guests. Inventory, requisition, and restock bar storage room with all essential products and equipment. Maintain product pars and inform management of any out of stock items. Assist in weekly/ monthly inventories and ordering. Maintain cleanliness and organization of all equipment and bar storage areas. Properly account for all drink sales through use of a cash register correctly programmed for each function. Use software (i.e. Maestro, Delphi) to properly allocate cash bar sales. Properly conduct cash handling and check closing procedures for all cash bars. Adhere to all liquor liability laws and prohibit the sale/service of any alcoholic beverage to any underage or intoxicated guest. Complete all assigned side-work satisfactorily.

10% Attend all pre-service meetings, departmental meetings, and assigned training sessions.

Other

Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Team members with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, team members may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the property. In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required.

Upon employment, all team members are required to fully comply with property rules and regulations for the safe and effective operation of the property’s facilities and equipment. Team members who violate property rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS

In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the manager based upon the particular requirements of the property.

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job to standards, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities:

Physical Demands

  • Most work tasks are performed indoors. Temperature is moderate and controlled by hotel environmental systems.
  • Must be able to routinely lift, carry and push items weighing in excess of 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to walk up and down steps and/ or ramps while carrying items.
  • Must be able to walk and stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to exert well-paced ability to reach other departments of the property on a timely basis.
  • Must be able to push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 300 lbs.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to perform daily tasks.
  • Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability, and visual acuity.
  • Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, managers, and fellow team members.
  • Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.
  • Hearing and visual acuity aides (i.e. hearing aids, eyeglasses), if required or prescribed, must be used while working.
  • Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment and perform certain daily tasks.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

Education

High school diploma or equivalent education is preferred.

Experience

Previous experience in a similar position in a hotel setting is preferred.

Licenses or Certificates

Able to obtain and/or maintain any government required licenses, certificates, or permits applicable to the position.

LEAD or TIPS Certification (or equivalent)

Food Handler’s Certification

Team member must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance per Handlery Hotels’ standards.
