POSITION SUMMARY (Brief summary of the purpose and objective of the position)

The Sales Manager is responsible for supervising and organizing the sales team. Drives sales by developing business plans, meeting planned goals, and coordinating with internal and external resources. Tasked with overseeing the activities and performance of the team by tracking sales goals, setting individual targets, and facilitating the ongoing training of sales personnel.

Essential Functions: (Individual tasks, duties, and responsibilities of the position accounting for highest % of time)

  • Achieve growth and hit sales targets by successfully managing the sales team
  • Design and implement a strategic business plan that expands company’s customer base and ensure continued strong presence
  • Own objective setting, coaching and performance monitoring of sales representatives. Developing the team through motivation, counseling, and product knowledge education.
  • Build and promote strong, long-lasting customer relationships by partnering with them and understanding their needs. Communicate and champion customer needs internally.
  • Present sales, revenue and expenses reports and realistic forecasts to the management team
  • Identify emerging markets and market shifts while being fully aware of new products and competition status
  • In conjunction with product management to identify, qualify, and quantify market gaps and new products.

  • Support shows and any industry related events throughout the year.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Successful previous experience as a sales representative or sales manager, consistently meeting or exceeding targets in the small arms industry
    • Demonstrated ability to communicate, present and influence credibly and effectively at all levels of the organization
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to evaluate situations and make decisions in consultation with stakeholders
    • Display positive attitude.
    • Ability to handle stress of deadlines and quotas
    • Excellent computer skills
    • Act as a leader within the company
    • Must be able to safely operate and demonstrate the use of company products including firearms
    • Proven ability to drive the sales process from plan to close
    • Strong business sense
    • Excellent mentoring, coaching and people management skills

    Educational/Experience Requirements:

    • BS degree in business administration or a related field or equivalent experience is preferred.
    • 3 years or greater sales experience with demonstrated growth trajectories
    • Travel as assigned to support major tradeshows, sales events, and training. Travel estimated up to 25%
    • Requires occasional lifting of common office implements, company products, and accessories up to 50 lbs.
    • Must be able to safety operate company products.
    • Requires sitting for extended periods interfacing with a computer. Will commonly walk, climb stairs, and requires the ability to drive. Events will require standing for extended periods to support sales efforts.
    • Requires being able to read complex information from ERP systems, reports, and computer text.
    • Requires being able to listen and communicate verbal information in meetings, in electronic communications, and across the telephone.
    • Majority of time will be indoors in an office environment. Occasional outdoor duties at tradeshows, product demonstrations, and sales events.
    • Employee will make quick decisions on tactical objectives. Considered & collaborative decision making for strategic objectives.
