ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Work the floor and lead the kitchen in cooking for residents
  • Plan, coordinate, document, and supervise resident nutritional care
  • Develop, implement, and maintain dietary service objectives, policies, and procedures
  • Foster positive communication within the dietary department and the organization as a whole
  • Promote organizations’ team concept, interpret philosophy, objectives, policies, and procedures of the organization to dietary personnel
  • Decide and perform all duties in accordance with organization’s policies/procedures, state and federal regulations and in conformance with recognized standards
  • Ensure compliance of dietary department with state/federal regulations
  • Evaluate the resident’s nutritional status
  • Aware of resident nutritional needs through observation, participation in care planning, resident/family input
  • Recruit and hire qualified dietary personnel necessary to meet or exceed the needs of the residents and facility
  • Supervise scheduling of staff/staff assignments, ensure fair and consistent treatment of all staff
  • Continually monitor and evaluate staff
  • Investigate and initiate incidents of discipline/corrective action (including discharge), if necessary, according to established personnel procedures
  • Accessible to staff on all shifts
  • Plan annual dietary budget and/or works within approved budget; supervise and approve all dietary purchases
  • Recognize and meet needs of the residents, families, and standards
  • Review all dietary staff accident/incident reports
  • Maintain and safeguard confidential information
  • Communicate effectively with residents, families, co-workers, and public
  • Function independently in situations that require professional judgement
  • Participate in Quality Assurance/Improvement Plan
  • Work every other weekend/holiday
