Ensoma is Hiring a Laboratory Assistant (Part-Time) Near Copenhagen, NY
- Conduct general laboratory activities that contribute to the successful execution of experiments in partnership with scientific staff, including:
- Assisting with media and buffer preparation
- Sterilizing laboratory equipment and surfaces; sterilizing lab materials using glass washer and autoclave system
- Monitor the general state of the lab, identifying issues, including those with equipment, escalating to appropriate team members as needed and helping with maintenance work as required
- In collaboration with Laboratory and Facilities Manager, assist with the maintenance of lab and office space, including:
- Monitoring available stock of supplies and consumables, reordering and refilling storage cabinets as necessary
- Unpack and register chemicals and consumables
- Assist with basic maintenance and general housekeeping activities in the lab and office spaces, including disposing of GMO waste according to proper rules and regulations as well as cleaning and organizing the space
- Receive and track daily mail and packages, distributing to team members as appropriate
- Perform other duties, responsibilities, and ad hoc tasks
- A minimum of two years of experience working in a similar position in a laboratory setting, in roles where you were responsible for activities such as autoclaving and other sterilization/cleaning protocols, as well as inventory tracking and waste disposal
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment, requiring the ability to balance multiple priorities, and identify opportunities/areas for improvement
- Strong communication skills in English, both oral and written. English is our corporate language, and all written materials are produced in English
- Self-starter with an eye and attention to detail and an optimization/continuous improvement mindset.
- Experience working on both PC and Mac systems, with proficiency in programs such as Microsoft Office
