Job Overview Under direction of the Director of Program Quality and Development, the
Stable Manager oversees daily care for the horses, supervises stable workers, and ensures optimal living conditions for the herd. Additionally, the SM will collaborate with other employees for idea sharing and resource allocation and be available to assist the administrative and program staff when necessary.
Job Duties Include (but not limited to): Stable Manages and coordinates horse care and safety including feeding, turn-out, paddock and stall cleaning, manure removal.
Maintains accurate horse management records including but not limited to farrier and veterinary care.
Works with Facility Manager to oversee maintenance of equipment and property including barn, arenas, pasture, and paddocks.
Adheres to all operations policies for vehicles and machinery.
Coordinates with other employees about equipment needs, media coverage, and herd management.
Maintains comprehensive yearly project list for work groups.
Assists in event preparation as assigned.
Works with the Finance Analysis and Reporting Manager in budget development for stable care and adheres to budget constraints.
Willing and able to assist as needed in stable for horse care.
Equine Coordinates with Program Manager to determine and provide medications and/or treatments to horses as needed.
Monitors herd daily to watch for injury and illness and reports any concerns to the Program Manager and Director of Program Quality and Development.
Creates feed chart, turn out and arena rotation assignments, and ensures optimal living conditions for equines.
Supervisory Supervises all full- and part-time weekday Stable Hands and Stable Aides including maintaining schedules, performance reviews and any required documentation.
Supervises program volunteers as assigned.
Supervises and completes/retains required documentation for all community service workers, students, and interns assigned to the stable management program.
Manages the supervision of group volunteer projects that are stable/facility-related, including completing related paperwork for scheduling and documenting results.
Provides Weekly Report to necessary staff regarding updates pertaining to equine treatments, feed, turn out, and schooling, as well as other important stable and equipment information.
General Adheres to budget constraints.
Upholds the vision, mission and values of Equest as well as an attitude of philanthropy.
Adheres to all PATH International standards.
Abides by all regulations, policies and procedures of the City of Dallas, as they pertain to the Texas Horse Park.
Serves on committees as assigned.
Attends staff meetings and special events as requested.
Requirements High school diploma or GED.
CPR and First Aid certification.
Ability to supervise others.
Effective communication skills.
General proficiencies in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook and Excel) and Stable Secretary.
