Job PurposeThe Literary Assistant will provide part-time administrative and dramaturgical support to the Literary Department for an average of 30 hours per week over a 10-month period (Aug 2024-June 2025). Responsibilities include projects and tasks to be completed independently, as well as general tasks in support of the Literary Department workflow.
Duties And Responsibilities
  • Assist with general Literary administrative support and industry research.
  • Read and evaluate three scripts per week.
  • Helps maintain Script Submissions and Reader logs and assists in transferring Literary assets to new database.
  • Circulates production scripts and latest drafts to appropriate teams.
  • Helps maintain records of history and subsequent productions for plays the company has developed and premiered.
  • Updates industry marketing contacts lists.
  • Write three Study Guides for the season.
  • Compile one Dramaturgy Packet.
  • Facilitate cast post-show discussions when coverage is needed (average one per show).
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in theatre or literary related fields or commensurate experience. Dramaturgy or playwriting background preferred.
  • Excellent research, writing, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to navigate working in a large, multi-faceted organization. Team-oriented, collaborative worker and thinker.
  • Computer proficiency required including work with databases and calendar programs. Experience with all Microsoft programs.
Physical RequirementsWhile performing the duties of this job you will be required to be physically and mentally present and able to respond to communications and ideas expressed in all forms.
Working conditionsSitting, standing, working indoors, and working on computers or at a desk. Duties are performed in a general office setting. One day per week of remote work using shared software and digital platforms. Occasional evening duties.
