Job Title: Risk Manager
Salary: Up to $39,776.00/year
Position Status: Part-Time (approx. 1000 hours/year), Contracted
SUMMARY
The final salary and terms for this position will be outlined in a contract subject to approval by the McLean County Board.Under executive direction, plans, develops, and administers the comprehensive countywide risk management program. Responsibilities include identifying and assessing risk exposures to the County; determining and implementing appropriate techniques and practices to reduce the county’s liability exposure; determining the best methods for financing risk liability; and negotiating/settling claims against the county. Work is performed according to state law and risk management guidelines. Work is reviewed by the County Administrator and County Board for adherence to guidelines and program results.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (May not include all duties performed)
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
A bachelor’s degree in business or public administration or related field, and considerable, progressively responsible experience (4-6 years) in governmental risk management; or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Possession of a valid driver's license, proof of insurability, and safe driving record.
Associate in Risk Management, Certification in Risk Management, Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter, or equivalent professional designation required.

This position requires sitting, standing/walking and may experience occasional standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, reaching, lifting, and repetitive motion – use of the wrists, hands, and fingers.
Defined as sedentary work – exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, and pull of objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Close visual acuity required to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, viewing a computer terminal.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work is performed primarily indoors in an assigned office area of a county building or facility. Work occasionally is performed at various indoor or outdoor locations of county facilities. Work requires periodic operation of a motorized vehicle.
