Full-Time Staff Accountant

Department: Accounting

Job Status: Full Time

FLSA Status: Exempt

Reports To: CFO

Work Schedule: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Position Supervised: 0

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Staff Accountant will be responsible for all aspects of accounts receivable and assisting with general accounting duties leading to month-end and financial reporting. The position will perform a variety of accounting duties such as recording deposits, account for all restricted and unrestricted donations, preparing invoices, complete grant reports, prepare journal entries, reconcile general ledger and credit card accounts, assist Accounting Supervisor with client billing reports, data collection, financial statement review, payroll duties, and the annual audits.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Performs all Accounts Receivable functions including but not limited to deposit entries, creating invoices, tracking all program revenue, process and report on restricted and unrestricted donations and other recordkeeping duties.

2. Assist Accounting Supervisor in reviewing internal controls used in managing material financial risks, and general ledger accounts, and our reporting system.

3. Record all bi-weekly payroll expenses in QuickBooks, and process employee bi-weekly 401k contribution for submission to plan administration company.

4. Maintain worksheet of grant financial activities, track and report grant expenses related to all funding sources, review and analyze expenditures for all grants monthly to ensure cost are allowable and in compliance with federal circular A-122, grant contracts/agreements and other regulatory requirements.

5. Assist Accounting Supervisor with maintaining all Excel cost allocation worksheets, Fixed Asset records and related depreciation schedules.

6. Reconcile General Ledger and all credit card accounts, maintain month-end closing worksheet, review recorded transactions to ensure accuracy and completeness.

7. Manage the processes for collecting personnel program service time used in cost allocation.

8. Assist the Accounting Supervisor in completing grants applications, with the research and review of CND contracts.

9. Assist the Accounting Supervisor with data collection, Medicaid/Medicare cost reports, financial reports, and audit preparation.

10. Participate in staff meetings, committees, attend conference, trainings, webinars/seminars as needed to as enhance your knowledge, broaden your horizon and obtain continued education.

11. Performs other duties as assigned to promote the overall mission and vision of CND.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Education:Bachelors degree in Accounting / Finance or 2 years of relevant work experience. Non-Profit accounting experience required.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications:Knowledge of Non-Profit accounting is required. Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills is required. A high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation.

Understanding of grants and cost allocation requirements under Federal OMB Circular A-122.

2. The ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles, and perform all work according to CND’s policies, standards, and mission statements.

Excellent organizational, communication skills and attention to detail.

Thorough knowledge of QuickBooks or similar accounting software and Excel spreadsheets.

Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.

Computer Skills

Proficient in Excel and the use of personal computer and related software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint) use of office equipment (e.g., fax, copier, printer).

  • Must possess a valid Ohio driver's license; must pass a criminal background check and a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Must be Covid -19 vaccinated.
