Crews go out into their local community and complete various conservation and skilled trades projects for public and nonprofit partners (for example, parks and recreation departments, the National Park Service, US Forest Service, conservancies or conservation districts, etc.). Projects might include planting trees, developing trails, light construction, landscaping, invasive species removal, historic preservation, etc. Some projects are completed in a day or less while others may take several weeks.
We’ve partnered with incredible groups including the National Parks and US Forest Services to repair and preserve some of northern Michigan’s most beautiful and vulnerable places. Projects include repairing walkways in Huron National Forest; conserving historic sites and repairing walking paths Sleeping Bear National Lake Shore; building boardwalks in Petoskey on the Bear River with Little Traverse Conservancy; and protecting and preserving pollinator habitats in Manistee National Forest! Some projects are located on islands or other remote regions of the state. Some members may have the opportunity to camp for 2 weeks with their crew while restoring and protecting historic sites and natural wonders!
