Description

• Plans, organizes, and supervises the work of Land Use and Residential Construction/Zoning inspectors and administrative staff involved in housing, property maintenance, nuisance, zoning and dangerous building inspections for the City of Springfield.
• Oversees the development adoptive codes, ordinances and administrative rulings enforced and administrated by the Department of Building Development Services.
• Oversee the enforcement and development of the craft certification program.
• Supervises related inspection activities and coordinates with plan review staff.

• A healthy understanding of interpreting and apply ICC building codes.
• An outgoing, flexible, and adaptable individual.
• Become a Certified Building Official within the first two years of employment.

Qualifications and Requirements

Experience, Education, and Training

• Requires graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Construction Technology, Architecture, Engineering, or a related discipline;

• Four years of progressively responsible professional inspection and/or plan review experience with a public government institution;

• At least two years of progressively responsible supervisory experience.
• Directly related experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.

• Must possess an active Certified Building Official (CBO) certification through the International Code Council (ICC) within two years of employment.
