Description
The City of Springfield is seeking a Code Administrator with our Building Development Services Department. This is a role that will have a direct impact on Springfields building Community.
What you will do:
Plans, organizes, and supervises the work of Land Use and Residential Construction/Zoning inspectors and administrative staff involved in housing, property maintenance, nuisance, zoning and dangerous building inspections for the City of Springfield.
Oversees the development adoptive codes, ordinances and administrative rulings enforced and administrated by the Department of Building Development Services.
Oversee the enforcement and development of the craft certification program.
Supervises related inspection activities and coordinates with plan review staff.
What you need:
A healthy understanding of interpreting and apply ICC building codes.
An outgoing, flexible, and adaptable individual.
Become a Certified Building Official within the first two years of employment.

Qualifications and Requirements
Experience, Education, and Training
Requires graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Construction Technology, Architecture, Engineering, or a related discipline;
AND
Four years of progressively responsible professional inspection and/or plan review experience with a public government institution;
AND
At least two years of progressively responsible supervisory experience.
Directly related experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Licensing/Certification
Must possess an active Certified Building Official (CBO) certification through the International Code Council (ICC) within two years of employment.
