Broward Center for the Performing Arts is Hiring a Programming Manager Near Fort Lauderdale, FL

POSITION SUMMARY

The Programming Manager provides exemplary administration of processing contracts and agreements for performances, events and artists as generated by the booking of the Programming Department. The position collaborates with the Director of Programming in researching and creating offers and budgets for a variety of events that include concerts, family programming and acts as the primary booker of educational programming. Act as liaison between artist representatives and internal departments to communicate information and ensure all contractual obligations are coordinated and appropriately executed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Process Broward Center presented artists’ contracts, riders, and maintain internal event book on behalf of the Programming Department in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Acts as the main department liaison to the Production Department and Event Services team during the contracting phase, coordinating the timely processing of tech riders and communicating any pertinent edits or notes directly to the artist representatives.
  • Project manage the presented, produced and co-produced events with Production, Event Services and Ticketing to ensure contractual needs of artist/partner are met in order to provide the ultimate artist experience, while controlling expenses per engagement budget.
  • Coordinates with the Finance Department to ensure all artists’ payments for presentations are processed correctly and in a timely fashion.
  • Identify appropriate programming opportunities, submit offers, and negotiate deals on behalf of the Education Department for BSEAS and Smart Stage Matinee Series.
  • Draft budgets and offers as requested for Programming teams.
  • Respond to requests for venue avails, and manage artist holds on the department calendar
  • Maintains all electronic show folders, show documents, and show tracking sheets for all assigned events and provides updates at weekly meetings.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with artists, agents, and managers, prioritizing prompt and successful interactions with each.
  • Participate in day-to-day operations of the Programming Department, contributing to programming administrative processes as needed.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to maintain a physical presence at designated work locations, maintaining regular attendance, punctuality and work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, holidays, and events, as needed.
  • Able to communicate effectively in English, both in writing and verbally.
  • Specific knowledge of, and experience in, the booking and/or producing in the theater and live events industry.
  • Comprehension of legal artist contracts and the editing process.
  • Able to assess the overall value of shows and artists to our specific market.
  • Excellent organizational, time management and prioritization skills.
  • Able to effectively negotiate in a high-pressure environment.
  • Foresight to understand the implications of artist contracts and riders as they affect the costs of individual presentations.
  • Able to understand and identify appropriate children's programming content that serves our community.
  • Possess accounting acumen related to event settlements and budgets.
  • Computer literacy, with emphasis on Microsoft Office products, Excel, Word and PDF software.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented with the ability to multi-task and work under pressure.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

DESIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • AA/AS or Higher: Business/Theater/Administration or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Minimum 2 years’ combined experience in contracts administration and Production in the performing arts entertainment or related industry.
