Job Title: Benefit Operations Specialist

Position Status: Full-time

FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt

Reports to: Operations Manager

Job Summary: At Allegiant Care, our members are at the core of everything we do. The Benefit Operations Specialist is responsible for ensuring member eligibility and enrollment are processed accurately and timely. We take our commitment to our members seriously and this position is essential to the organization’s success as a trusted benefit provider. The position will work collaboratively across multiple functional areas to ensure accuracy of member records.

A successful candidate for this role has experience executing complex, detailed and time bound processes with an analytical mindset and is comfortable with working with large data sets. A candidate who is motivated and resourceful with strong structured thinking and problem-solving skills will thrive in this challenging and fast-paced environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage and administer the member eligibility process of employee benefits programs for multiple participating employers, including health insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, health savings plans and other voluntary benefits.
  • Execute complex analyses and validation of large data sets using MS Excel and/or MS Access.
  • Coordinate with benefit vendors and insurance carriers to ensure accurate enrollment, coverage, and timely resolution of issues.
  • Process benefit enrollments, changes, and terminations in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate member benefits records, ensuring data integrity within relevant systems.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employers regarding benefit-related inquiries, providing timely and accurate information and assistance.
  • Assist members with resolving issues, troubleshooting problems, and providing resolution
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements in benefits administration, reporting, and documentation.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline and improve benefit administration processes, enhance efficiency, and optimize resources.
  • Recommend and implement system enhancements, automation solutions, or best practices to improve the overall effectiveness of benefits operations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives and address operational challenges proactively.
  • Prioritize and manage timelines for multiple processes.
  • Help promote a company culture that embraces integrity, accountability and collaboration to drive outstanding member experiences.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Tech-savvy; proficient with Microsoft Excel, Access, Word, Visio and other Office products
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build appropriate rapport and collaborative relationships
  • Must be capable of working in a team-oriented environment, as well as the ability to work independently
  • Excellent critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills and demonstrated ability to work with large amounts of data
  • Flexible and agile, with an ability to manage change positively and balance competing priorities without getting overwhelmed

Education & Experience:

The following background/experience is required for competent performance in this job:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required; associate or bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in an analytical role working with data.
  • Experience in the health insurance or employee benefit industry is preferred; however, we will train the right candidate.
