Role and Responsibilities
Primary role will be maintaining the daily operations of the accounting staff and ensuring data integrity and accuracy. The Director of Accounting is responsible for a variety of tasks as outlined below. This is a full-time exempt salary-based position. Role includes the following:
- Working with direct reports to determine objectives and goals for each year, and advising on their progress to enhance staff professional development
- Assisting in the design and implementation of features and procedures to enhance the accounting department's workflow
- Making sure members of the finance team meet all financial reporting deadlines
- Training and advising new and existing employees of non-routine reporting transactions
- Monitoring and analyzing the financial department to develop more efficient procedures and proper use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy
- Work closely with AP, AR, and billing teams to ensure process efficiency
- Responsible for month end close process which includes.
- Bank reconciliations
- Management discussion and analysis
- Expense prepaids
- Reconcile credit cards
- POC accounting for a portion of our business that does construction
- Record shared expenses
- Train and mentor accounting staff
- Offer process improvements to accounting functions
- Maintain working relationships with external clients and vendors
- Other Duties as assigned
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Five years of experience in general accounting required
- Two years of management experience required
- Bachelor degree in Accounting required
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient with Microsoft office
Preferred Skills
- CPA preferred
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics CRM or other client relationship management software preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work on a computer and stare at a monitor screen for long periods of time.
