Position: Assistant Director of Nursing
Status: Full-Time
Location: Southfield, MI - Abcott Institute

Overview:

Abcott Institute is in search of a dedicated Assistant Director of Nursing to bolster our nursing program. This role demands collaborative efforts with the Director of Nursing and our faculty to manage the program’s daily functions, uphold regulatory standards, and realize our educational goals. The Assistant Director will be entrusted with the supervision of part-time faculty, curriculum delivery, and ensuring the academic success of our students.

Primary Duties:

1. Manage daily operations of the nursing program.
2. Oversee, mentor, and assess part-time faculty, ensuring adherence to program standards.
3. Strategize alongside the Director of Nursing for optimal student retention and achievement.
4. Aid in the recruitment and admission of prospective nursing students.
5. Organize and lead student orientation initiatives.
6. Deliver instruction in clinical, lab, and traditional classroom settings.
7. Track student progress, offering counseling, support, and resources as necessary.
8. Collaborate in the creation and assessment of the nursing curriculum with the Director of Nursing.
9. Assist in faculty evaluations, ensuring they maintain current RN licenses, certifications, and professional advancement.
10. Guarantee adherence to regulatory standards and uphold agreements with clinical establishments.
11. Collaborate with the Director of Nursing on annual program assessments.

Prerequisites:

• Valid RN license in Michigan.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master's degree (MSN) preferred.
• A minimum of three years’ experience in educational instruction, nursing administration, and teaching.
• Demonstrated experience in faculty supervision and evaluation.
• Proficiency with computers, relevant software, and standard office machinery.
• Stellar verbal and written communication abilities.
• Autonomous, with the capacity to juggle multiple responsibilities and prioritize.
• Acquaintance with regulatory bodies and accreditation guidelines.

Medical Specializations:

• Cardiology, Critical & Intensive Care, Geriatrics, Medical-Surgical, Ob/Gyn, Pediatrics, Psychiatry, Surgery, and Wound Care.

Work Schedule:

• Regular daytime shifts from Monday to Friday.
• Excludes night shifts and weekends.

Commute Details:

• Candidates should be able to reliably commute to Southfield, MI 48075 or have relocation plans in place prior to employment.

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree mandatory; MSN preferred.
• Supervisory experience: Minimum 1 year (Desirable).
• Higher education instruction: Minimum 3 years (Essential).
• Clinical teaching: Minimum 3 years (Essential).

License/Certification:

• RN license (Mandatory).
