SUMMARY:

The Financial Aid Counselor I responsibilities involve all aspects of the financial aid process and enrollment management pertaining to financial aid. Acts as liaison between the Office of Financial Aid and other university departments or other outside agencies.

JOB DUTIES:

Provide counsel and advise students and families regarding processes for federal, state and private aid sources.

Process financial aid for undergraduate, and graduate students according to federal guidelines.

Meet with prospective, transfer and current students regarding financial aid and financing options.

Participate in open houses, information sessions and orientations; evening and weekend work will be required.

Perform verification process.

Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

The highest level of personal and professional integrity. Customer service focus. Outstanding interpersonal skills including conflict resolution. The ability to work as a team and collaboratively with other departments. An ability to contribute and share ideas and suggestions for improving customer service activities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's Degree (B.A. or B.S.) One to two years' experience in higher education. A working knowledge in Ellucian Banner is a plus. Proficient in Microsoft Office, Word and Excel. A balanced combination of organizational and customer service skills is required, as well as excellent attention to detail.
