AWS is seeking one full time RN or two part time RN to join our Behavioral Health team. Our focus is improving clients health and wellness by working as a team to ensure clients understand the connection between their physical health and their mental health.

This indirect role supports a team of behavioral health providers with ensuring clients physical health care is being addressed. Requirements

Qualifications

  • Must be a Registered Nurse (RN) with an Active Maine State License
  • This position requires exceptional self-direction, organizational skills, and communication abilities. The ideal candidate must be capable of working autonomously, managing a diverse range of tasks efficiently, and maintaining clear, effective, and respectful communication with clients, team members, and other stakeholders.
  • Experience working with underserved, transient populations, and clinical comorbidities (co-occurring mental health, substance abuse, and physical health problems) is preferred.
  • Successful completion of criminal, child protective service, and sex offender background checks. Not listed on state or federal suspension and disbarment lists.
  • Valid Maine Driver's License and a good driving record are required.

Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesResource and Support for BHH Care Coordinators:

  • Serve as the primary medical resource for BHH Care Coordinators and Clinical Coordinators.
  • Provide specialized support for AWS staff supporting clients with significant medical needs, assisting them with integrating the client’s physical health with mental health care plans.

Consultative Client Support:

  • Offer consultative support to clients post-discharge from hospitals, emergency rooms, or treatment facilities.
  • In collaboration with Care Coordinators, monitors client health statuses to prevent/reduce relapses or readmissions.

Training and Certification Leadership:

  • Responsible for periodically leading training sessions on relevant mental and physical health care topics during staff meetings, as well as acting as a key medical resource, providing expertise and guidance during these meetings.
  • Obtain and maintain certifications for specialized trainings (First Aid, CPR, medication administration) and conduct these trainings for staff.

Operational Support, Safety Compliance, and HR Advisory:

  • Advise AWS management on health and safety issues, infection and disease control, and OSHA compliance.
  • Serve as a resource to AWS Human Resources Staff on FMLA, ADA, Workers' Compensation, etc.
  • Guide and support current COVID-19 protocols, contagious illness outbreak procedures, office closures, and telecommuting strategies. Works with Admin & Facilities Manager to ensure that adequate health and safety supplies (masks, sanitizer, etc.) are available in all offices.

Health Information and Data Analysis:

  • Utilizes electronic health records to track client progress and outcomes.
  • Ensures accurate documentation of client interactions and interventions.

Interdisciplinary Collaboration:

  • Work with a multidisciplinary team for comprehensive client care.
  • Participate in case conferences and meetings for holistic care planning.

Community Outreach and Advocacy:

  • Engages in community outreach on behalf of AWS for mental health awareness.
  • Advocates for client access to resources and support within the healthcare system and community, including identifying and maintaining an updated list of available community resources to ensure comprehensive client support.

Continuous Professional Development:

  • Stay updated on mental health and nursing care trends and best practices.
  • Engage in ongoing education and professional development.

Emergency Response and Crisis Intervention:

  • Provide immediate response in crisis situations.
  • Coordinate with emergency services and healthcare providers during crises.

Employee Health and Wellness Promotion:

  • Conduct staff training on health-related topics, including infectious disease prevention and workplace safety. Coordinates annual vaccine clinics for staff.
  • Collaborates with HR to monitor and improve workplace health and safety.

Monitoring, Reporting, and Continuous Improvement:

  • Regularly tracks health and safety metrics, reporting on incidents and compliance issues.
  • Works with Operations, HR and AWS management to implement measures for enhancing workplace health and safety.
