Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Diesel Technician to join our team. As a Diesel Technician, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel-powered vehicles and equipment. This is a part-time position located at our truck depot.
Duties:
- Perform routine vehicle maintenance, including oil changes, filter replacements, and tire rotations
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues in diesel engines
- Inspect and test vehicles to identify problems and determine necessary repairs
- Use power tools, diagnostic equipment, and computer software to assist in troubleshooting
- Repair or replace faulty components, such as brakes, shocks, struts, air brakes, and suspension systems
- Conduct inspections of tractor-trailers and other heavy-duty vehicles to ensure compliance with safety regulations
- Weld and fabricate parts as needed
- Operate heavy machinery, such as cranes or lifts, for maintenance purposes
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience as a Diesel Technician or in a similar role preferred
- Strong knowledge of diesel engine systems and vehicle maintenance procedures
- Proficient in using diagnostic tools and equipment
- Ability to align and balance wheels
- Skilled in welding and fabrication techniques preferred
- Familiarity with tractor-trailers and heavy-duty vehicles
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
