Larchmont Yacht Club is Hiring a Bartender - Seasonal Near Larchmont, NY

Job description

Overview & Objective

A Seasonal Barback at the Larchmont Yacht Club, you will be responsible for always providing prompt and friendly beverage service to all our guests by following the standards set by the Food & Beverage managers. This role will assist the bartender in setting the stage for the experience a guest will have and will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the bar during the service.

About the Club:
Larchmont Yacht Club is one of the oldest and most prestigious yacht clubs in the United States. Located on a 15-acre waterfront campus, 16 miles from New York City, the Club engages its members in year round activities including sailing, tennis and paddle, swimming, and diving. Our children's programs include Camp Seagull and a well-known Junior Sailing program that has produced Olympic level sailors over the years.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain a gracious, pleasant, and friendly attitude, while contributing to a teamwork-based work environment.
  • Assist bartenders in the set-up of the bar.
  • Clean glassware and bartender tools throughout shift.
  • Replenish ice, garnishes, glassware, and other needed products.
  • Show a strong menu knowledge by recognizing every dish, be able to answer basic questions from members, and presenting the dishes while describing them accurately and confidently.
  • Must have a comprehensive beverage, wine, and cocktail knowledge.
  • Aid bartender in stocking liquor, beer & wine.
  • Complete all opening, mid, and closing procedures, complete daily checklist and side work assignments.
  • Provide each member with a friendly welcome and a farewell to ensure a positive and memorable visit.

Additional Duties & Goals

  • Maintain a gracious, pleasant, and friendly attitude, while contributing to a teamwork-based work environment.
  • Take pride in your appearance while adhering to the Dress & Appearance Policy.
  • Create an experience in such a way that members feel compelled to return to the bar.
  • Ensure you are a working part of achieving the >4.0 out of 5.0 in member satisfaction.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Additionally/Other

  • Adhere to all safety rules and guidelines.
  • Comply with all LYC policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook and always maintain a professional demeanor while representing The Club.

Education, Experience and Training:

  • 1 years of experience in a food and beverage position within a hotel, country club, restaurant, or catering venue.

Knowledge, Skills, Ability:

  • Prior experience working in a fine dining restaurant or county club preferred.
  • Ability to read, speak and interpret documents in clear English.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule which includes nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to think quickly on their feet and multi-task with ease.
  • Must be able to reach, bend, crouch and frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours).

Physical Requirements:

  • Clear Speech, Hearing/Listening
  • Ability to lift and carry 501bs.
  • Ability to stand for up to 8 hours.
  • Medium work requiring; balancing, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, grasping, talking, and hearing.
  • Visual acuity to perform an activity where the seeing job is at or within arm's reach.
  • Subject to both environmental conditions: activities occur both inside and outside including, but not limited to indoors, outdoors, kitchen, service areas, and in a variety of weathers.

Schedule

  • Necessary to have flexibility on working varied hours, days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Time off is limited during our high- volume months.
