$1.00 Night shift Differential
Primary job responsibility is inspection, sampling, and testing of designated manufacturing processes within the pet food plant. Communicates with various super visors within the company on quality issues. Documents daily testing result s on designated quality assurance forms. Performs other duties as assigned within the limits of training, physical, and mental abilities.
Pet Food Plant and Laboratory
Sample and inspect each of the following items and/or processes:
1. Sampling and testing of chicken fat and beef tallow
2. Testing of various ingredients prior to unloading
3. Monitoring of pet food shapes, colors and blend ratios
4. Monitoring of pet food moisture and density during the drying process
5. Monitoring of pet food moisture and density at the packaging lines
6. Monitoring of clean-out procedures to prevent cross-contamination
7. Assure proper date code, closure, and net weight of products on packaging lines
8. Assure proper calibration of packaging check weight scales and hand add scales
9. Assur e pro p er stacking, stretch wrap, and stickers on pallets
10. Sample and test finished products to assure conformance with stated guarantees
11. Releasing finished goods for shipment
1. Report directly to the shift supervisor with a dotted line relationship with the Director of Quality Assurance and Vice President, Nutrition & Quality Assurance
2. Work closely with all equipment operators.
1. To reject product not conforming to established specifications
2. To notify plant manager, shift supervisor, and operators of quality problems as needed
Eye-hand coordination. Ability to lift 55-pound bags.
Ability to climb onto tanker trucks, trailers and rail cars as needed.
Reading and writing skills to complete reports.
Ability to recognize the appearance and general characteristics of the various raw materials and formulated products.
Skills in relating with people to help coworkers and supervisors. Ability to organize daily activities in order to maximize time.
Employees in this position must be able to perform under the following conditions:
1. Work in the pet food plant.
a. This will require the wearing of protective equipment such as a bump cap, hair nets, safety glasses, and ear protection.
Additional responsibilities will require work in a laboratory environment
