Camp Green Lane is Hiring a Prep Cook Near Green, PA

The Kitchen Staff position is responsible for assisting the Head Chef in providing nutritious, well-prepared meals, served to all members of the camp community. They also assist with sanitation throughout the camp kitchen as assigned.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: (Additional duties as assigned)

  • Assist in the management of daily operations of the camp food and dining service, including coordinating distribution between the kitchen and dining hall, including creation of meals that are nutritionally balanced, ensuring food is prepared in a safe and efficient manner, and food is served on time, in coordination with kitchen and other staff.
  • Assist with all aspects of meal preparation as assigned, including, but not limited to, washing and peeling, chopping, baking, mixing, etc.
  • Assist in routine sanitation of the kitchen and related equipment; clean and maintain all food preparation and storage areas.
  • Assist in the daily cleaning of all dishes.
  • Assist in the daily cleaning of the kitchen and dining hall.
  • Assist the Head Chef in the receiving and unpacking food orders.
  • Assist the Head Chef in packing weekly cook-out lunch
  • Work as a member of the food service team, working with Head Chef on assigned tasks to meet kitchen goals of timely, well-prepared meals.
  • Assist with kitchen and dining hall clean up, including sweeping, mopping, sanitizing, trash pick-up, etc.

Minimum Qualification Standards:

  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Knowledge of and experience with food service, including food preparation, family-style and buffet style serving, cleaning, and industrial kitchen equipment.
  • Ability to operate dishwashing equipment.
  • Ability to work as a member of a food service team.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills including the ability to manage multiple projects and details simultaneously.
  • Possess good character, integrity, patience, sense of humor, enthusiasm, a high level of flexibility, and willingness to be a part of the camp community.
  • Ability to work productively in a fast paced, stressful environment.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

Light mental and visual attentionrequired for performing work where there is some variety but actions taken and decisions made are limited to few possibilities. Work requires some coordination with others.

Physical Exertion:

  • Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to move objects.
  • Walking on uneven terrain
  • Endurance to meet emergency needs
  • Ability (and willingness) to live in a camp setting and work irregular hours
