TITLE: Quality Inspector
POSITION DETAILS
Position Summary
Performs mechanical inspections of pumps and pump parts for dimensional analysis to blue print drawings; checking a wide variety of rough, semi-finished parts, components and assemblies to close tolerances.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
· Perform a wide variety of duties to perform complicated inspections of all sizes, types and variety either being received, in process, finished and/or assembled parts and pumps.,
· Take precision and complex geometric measurements on pump parts. Detect and document out of tolerance conditions. As may be assigned, develop new ideas, procedures for measuring new or modified products.
· Take requested inspection of in-process, first piece and/or finished items. Take all required dimensional measurements to required tolerances, ensure all required processes and inspections have been completed and documented. Make determination to accept, reject or hold items.
· Final inspect the attributes which can be obtained with normal gauges. Inspector should recommend process improvements. Initiate corrective actions.
· Prepare various reports pertaining to inspections/testing, acceptance or rejection of items, make recommendations for the disposition of parts or products in accordance with established quality procedures.
· Perform multiple non destructive tests simultaneously, where applicable, supervisor will determine applicability.
· Work from blueprints, drawings, shop orders, purchase orders or other information and data to inspect and check a wide variety of rough, semi-finished and finished parts, components and assemblies to close tolerances. Layout work, make all required inspection setup and check all surfaces, angles, radii, holes, bores, shafts, slots and other features such as finishes and appearance for compliance with specifications.
· Make precision machine setups and calibrations, select appropriate program for part to be inspected and download into computer. Operate machine to make required inspection measurements, following program. Detect and document out of tolerance conditions.
· Plan and perform layout operations.
· Layout a variety of castings and parts for boring, drilling or milling operations
· Receive incoming castings. Match items against packing slip, purchase order, verify to ensure proper specifications, names, quantity, certifications, etc. Note obvious defects of damage to materials and notify appropriate personnel. Mark/stamp items with appropriate identification markings. Fill out all necessary receiving documentation; match work packets with jobs, marking, separating route sheets as required. Determine availability of certifications. Record receipts on daily on daily list and enter into computer system, enter required information to release order. Maintain receiving records and files.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities
· Must be able to read blueprints, and read and understand gages.
· Must be familiar with micrometers, verniers and indicators.
· Must understand Geometric dimension tolerances (ANSI Y 14.5)
· Must be a self-starter, be dependable, and have excellent organizational skills.
· The associate must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
· U.S. Citizen is required for DOD requirements.
