BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Training: A high school diploma or equivalent
with an emphasis in a business or accounting curriculum.
Skill(s): Moderate reading, writing, and grammar skills;
proficient analytical and mathematics skills; proficient
communicative and interpersonal relations skills; proficient
eye-hand coordination; ability to operate various office
machines; ability to lift approximately fifty (50) lbs. of coin.
Experience: A minimum of one (1) year, experience in a Banking
or Financial industry service or retail.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for performing a variety of duties to support
the paying and receiving function of the community office;
coordinating work within the unit or department, as well as
with other departments and units; reporting pertinent
information to the immediate supervisor; responding to
inquiries or requests for information.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
1. Demonstrates core values and guiding principles as outlined
in the Bank's Mission, Vision and Value Statements of which
the following are illustrative:
a. Gives exceptional customer service to both internal
and external customers by providing prompt, polite and
effective communication.
b. Participates as a member of the team.
c. Positively and proactively contributes to the Bank's
Strategic Plan.
d. Demonstrates support of Management.
2. Ensures that all activities and work functions adhere to
compliance requirements as are defined in company policies and
procedures as well as state/federal laws and regulations.
3. Performs a variety of duties to support the paying and
receiving function of the community office of which the
following are illustrative:
a. Provides customer service by accurately and efficiently
completing all deposit, check cashing within approved
authority and operating policy and other transactions
involving negotiable instruments including cashiers
checks, cash advances, new account referrals, etc.
b. Consistently demonstrates positive/welcoming demeanor.
c. Accepts utility bill payments as appropriate.
d. Accepts loan payments, safe deposit box rent and other related payments.
e. Follows dual control.
f. Maintains an approved level of cash; turns in excess and mutilated cash.
g. Prepares daily settlement and proof of cash transactions; balances cash drawer accurately and efficiently on a daily basis.
h. Prepares reports relating to the function, e.g., currency, transaction, BSA reports, etc.
i. Maintains supplies and an awareness of Teller supply inventory control.
4. Participates in the Jeff Bank’s growth initiatives offering referrals and services to new and existing clients:
a. Actively serves as a team player involved in achieving branch goals.
b. Recommends the best accounts to customers using the sales presentation process and asks for the business.
c. Identifies sales opportunities at the teller line and drive-thru and makes professional referrals to other team members.
5. Coordinates specific work tasks with other personnel within the unit or department as well as with other units or departments in order to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of information.
6. Cooperates with, participates in, and supports the
adherence to all internal policies, procedures, and
practices in support of risk management and overall
safety and soundness and the bank's compliance with all
regulatory requirements, e.g. Community Reinvestment Act
(CRA), Equal Credit Opportunity Act, etc., including but
not limited to BSA & AML (Awareness when processing cash
deposits, sale of monetary instruments and structured deposits.
7. Reports pertinent information to the immediate
supervisor as requested, or according to an established
schedule; compiles information as necessary or as
directed and provides data to appropriate bank personnel.
8. Responds to inquiries relating to his/her particular
area, or to requests from customers, other bank
personnel, etc., within given time frames and within
established policy.
ANCILLARY DUTIES
1. May be required, on occasion, to provide safe deposit
box services to customers.
2. May be required to provide support in non-paying and
receiving activities, e.g., new accounts, loans, etc.
3. May be required to balance and/or service ATM machines.
4. May be required to verify and wrap coin for vault cash
control purposes.
5. Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.
