SummaryThe Production Operations Manager is responsible for Safety, Quality, Process Improvement, Receiving, and Inventory Control in the Production Team.
The focus of this job centers around producing timely results that are high quality and accurate. Benefiting from an analytical, inquiring, and critical mind, this job requires imagination and strong problem-solving skills, but with a strong technical orientation. The job requires an ability to deal with abstract concepts, systems, and ideas and all of that in an organized and self-disciplined way. It also requires that serious consideration be given to all possibly related facts and potential problems. This job demands deep knowledge and expertise and to do it successfully depends on understanding detailed information. Intellectual confidence is important in this job, and to do it well requires close, hands-on involvement, careful follow-up, and very disciplined and limited delegation. This job is technically demanding and ‘strictly business’, with little need for influential ‘people interactions’. Central to this job is the need to weigh all decisions carefully and thoroughly, based on expertise, in order to avoid unpredictable risks. Getting the job done and getting it done right are the two equal drivers for this job, and that may create conflict.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, state, and federal regulations
  • Conduct workplace safety training
  • Audit workplace for potential causes of injury or other issues and verify that employees are consistently following safety protocols.
  • Facilitate regular safety meetings and manage relevant content for weekly plant and jobsite safety briefings.
  • Establish and maintain effective quality control systems and processes to ensure that all products, procedures, and services meet quality standards.
  • Monitor and measure product and service performance, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Develop and implement training programs to ensure that quality standards are met.
  • Manage and coordinate quality audits and inspections.
  • Monitor completion of quality investigations and facilitate investigations when necessary.
  • Assist in the creation of actions resulting from quality investigations and monitor success of actions in reducing quality incidents .
  • Trains and builds the capabilities of departments and their leaders to develop and implement strategy, monitor performance, continually improve, and innovate.
  • Facilitates check-in meetings and helps provide accountability for team members, managers, and executives.
  • Facilitates continuous improvement meetings and events, monitors achievement of milestones, and coordinates steps to achievement between teams when necessary.
  • Identify waste and inefficiencies in processes, layout and storage and facilitate improvement efforts with affected teams.
  • Manages and directs the Receiving Team Leader
  • Develops and implements effective strategies to successfully receive and manage raw materials.
  • Responsible for inventory control, including effective storage and accurate inventory counts.
  • Manages other special projects as assigned.
Job Requirements & Qualifications
  • Two-year degree, or higher, in a related field, is required.
  • Relevant experience can be considered equivalent to a degree.
  • Three or more years experience within the woodworking, manufacturing, or construction industry is preferred.
  • Knowledge of industry-specific safety standards.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing process improvement strategies and Lean principles.
  • Strong attention to detail and communication skills.
