Position Overview:
This is an apprentice position available for applicants interested in learning the craft of making, repairing, and maintaining tools, dies, molds and fixtures used during the manufacturing process. Utilizing “on the job training”, the position would prepare the trainee for continued employment at CMI.
Applicants should be prepared to learn the following over time.
Machinist math and measurement techniques.
Understanding blueprints, sketches, models, and specifications for fabricating tool and die assemblies used in the manufacturing of metal and plastic components.
Analysis, troubleshooting and repair of manufacturing tools.
Understanding of how to test completed parts for detection of defects and ensure conformance to product specifications using calibrated measuring instruments.
Maintain tools as required. Perform regularly scheduled maintenance.
Supplemental Job Functions
Record daily production on the computer.
Adherence to all quality standards of the organization
Other duties as assigned
Requirements/Qualifications
Must be able to work well with your hands and have a strong eye for detail.
Must be willing to learn and thrive in an environment where you receive hands-on instruction.
Other Skills/Abilities
Mechanical abilities are a plus
Mathematics prowess is a plus
Ability to take notes and retain information
Willingness to take additional courses that may apply to the job functions.
