With main offices in Hermiston, OR, UMHS has been Eastern Oregon’s trusted and longstanding community nonprofit providing essential programs in early childhood education, family support, nutrition, and wellness since 1983. Our programs are recognized for delivering high quality services, and we are often sought out as leaders in our approaches, methodologies, and procedures that prioritize building community centered programs and inclusivity in serving diverse populations. UMHS serves nine counties in seventeen community locations through Early Head Start and Head Start, preschool, and childcare services (making UMHS Oregon’s largest Head Start and PreK service program area) Women Infant & Children (WIC) program, Healthy Families, Home Visiting program, and Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA). Our programs serve the whole family and child through robust wraparound services in mental and physical health, family services, and nutrition. Hugging the Columbia River and at the tail end of the National Columbia Gorge Scenic Highway, UMHS, Inc and its programs serve communities nestled amidst the stunning landscape of eastern Oregon mountain ranges and valleys. THE OPPORTUNITY
UMHS is actively recruiting an experienced Director of Finance to join our senior leadership team in Hermiston, Oregon. The new Director of Finance will be part of a growing leadership team of colleagues who are recognized leaders in children’s education, community and human services, and facility management. The new Director of Finance will be joining at an exciting time as the organization is moving into a new 5 Year Strategic Plan with goals to increase and expand high quality service areas to growing communities.

Job Goal:
To lead and manage UMHS’ financial department in accordance with federal and state regulations, effectively oversee and direct financial reporting and strategies for supporting annual budgeting process; direct supervision and management of finance staff and provide fiscal integrity through the implementation of sound internal controls. Lead and train a fiscal team and demonstrate hands on leadership; provide significant contributions to the Senior Leadership Team and support to the Executive Director and Board of Directors. Analyze, develop, and make sound financial recommendations and explanations to Executive Director and Governance, monitoring entities, and the public alike.
