metroConnections is Hiring a Video Editor, Creative Services Near Burnsville, MN

A Video Editor on the Creative Services team assumes full developmental responsibility of all projects assigned from pre-production to post-production and archival. The Video Editor will also help to lead internal tasks/projects as needed for the Creative Services Team, in partnership with the Director, Content Services.

The goal is always to provide exceptional service and to craft exceptional deliverables for the customer. A Video Editor can accomplish this goal by implementing the metroConnections Brand Pillars in everyday work functions with internal colleagues and external clients and partners: Connection, Innovation, Adaptability, Partnership, Dependability, Execution.

This is a full-time, salary, bonus-eligible, hybrid position. Work locations will include independent remote/work from home, occasional team office work in Burnsville, MN, and occasional on-site event work (both within the Twin Cities and domestically including overnight travel).

Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Pre-Production: Lead or Support the Coordination Phase for assigned projects, following established processes:
    • Communicate and coordinate with internal teams: Producers, Program Managers, Sales, etc.
    • Correspond with clients – finalizing details and logistics during planning process.
    • Coordinate financial details with Creative Coordinators: final edit hours, purchases, etc.
    • Support creation of on-site schedules/planning documents.
    • Research additional client requests as needed, including design styles, music, b-roll, and more.
    • Lead, attend, and participate in program site visits as needed (including travel).
    • Manage presenter content as needed for edits.
  • Production: On-site technical support, following established processes:
    • Assist in load-in.
    • Assist in setting up equipment for video shoots: camera, tripods, lighting, audio, scenic, etc.
    • Operate as a tech in one of the A/V roles: Video Director, Video 1, Video 2, Audio 1, Teleprompter, or Gaffer.
    • Assist in strike and load-out of equipment.
    • Lead or support during speaker rehearsals.
    • Manage media cards and backup as required.
    • Trouble-shoot throughout on-site execution phase.
  • Post-Production: Lead or Support post-program editing phase of assigned projects:
    • Ingest video footage and other media – editing content as directed.
    • Edit pre-recorded presentation sessions per specifications provided by the Production team.
    • Edit functional content per specifications provided by the Production team.
    • Follow brand guidelines and preferences for each client account.
    • Archive final project design files and final exports.
    • Communicate updates and learning experiences to internal teams.
    • Communicate final edit hours and other expenses to Creative Coordinator or Producer, as assigned.
    • Compile and share debrief notes.
  • Non-Program related tasks include supporting fellow teammates, creating resources, participating and supporting team meetings, and more.
  • Work collaboratively with all service teams within metroConnections.
  • Participate in all aspects of metroConnections where appropriate/when assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in virtual, hybrid and in person productions.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite apps: Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator.
  • Proficiency with basic video setups: 3-point lighting, DSLR and Cinema cameras, Audio.
  • Understanding or ability to learn quickly additional softwares such as MagicCue, OBS, Red Giant, etc.
  • Technology literate with a passion for learning new things.
  • Exhibit strong computer and technical skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office including PPT, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Work independently to come up with viable solutions.
  • Provide excellent customer service via email, on the phone and in-person.
  • Take direction from multiple managers or team members, as well as having a good understanding of with whom to advise/consult in the event of conflicting instruction.
  • Multi-task efficiently, learn quickly, and provide detailed work while maintaining big-picture thinking.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to stay focused on tasks, as well as a strong attention to detail and organization/documentation.
  • Demonstrate common sense, comprehend instructions, interpret documents, and apply abstract principles to a wide range of complex tasks.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, including presentation skills (English is the primary language).
  • Understand the meanings of words and effectively respond, analyze information, and write reports, and comprehend complex issues and communicate effectively to diverse groups.
  • Perform basic arithmetic accurately and compute rates and percentages.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment; able to collaborate and compromise, both as a lead and support role.
  • Manage stress successfully: adapt to change, trouble-shoot, and make decisions while maintaining a calm and respectful demeanor.
  • Work successfully with many different types of personalities.
  • Possess strong leadership skills and an outgoing personality.
  • Maintain a cheerful and positive attitude.
