About The Role

Axiom Builders’ brand new project in Nashville is gearing up to start and our leadership team is looking for a Construction Safety Specialist to join our project team in Tennessee. Developed by IPB Properties, this unique project is a triple-tower mixed-use project at the former dairy factory in Midtown. Currently, phase 1 consists of a residential tower of 325 rentals, including 17,000 sqft of distinctive amenities and 14,500 sq ft of commercial space. Reporting to the Site Superintendent and Project Manager, the Construction Safety Specialist is someone who has the ability to manage the night-time safety operations of a high-rise construction site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and ensure site compliance with TN OSHA and Axiom’s Health and Safety Plan
  • Complete worker/project safety orientations and maintain records accurately; 
  • Facilitate routine project safety meetings with project team and subcontractors; 
  • Facilitate and document project safety inspections and address deficiencies accordingly; 
  • Maintain subcontractors’ site specific safety plans and job hazard assessments (JHA) 
  • Regularly inspect and review fall protection plans, excavation/trenching, cranes/rigging operations, ladders and scaffolds and other equipment use; 
  • Full Investigation of near-misses, injuries and property damage; 
  • Ensure health and safety compliance and take steps to enforce protocol as required; 
  • Maintain site health and safety signages and posts 
  • Maintain project safety manual and other safety related documents; 
  • Assist with injury claims; 
  • Track training requirements and ensure all employees meet safety standards. 

What You Bring

At Axiom Builders, we are looking for long-term team fit and values alignment with expertise and passion in each person’s specialized trade. The Construction Safety Specialist is self-managed, understanding how to prioritize the different safety aspects of a construction site. Because the project is just getting started, the ideal candidate has the opportunity to build relationships and gain buy-in with future team members while establishing safety procedures early in the project schedule.

Skills and Experience 

  • 5-10 years of experience in managing/developing (OSHA) construction safety documentation, Competent Person training, and policy/field enforcement; 
  • Thorough knowledge of Tennessee OSHA Construction standards; 
  • Required credentials as a Qualified Safety Specialist (OSHA 500 Trainer preferred), CHST or equivalent; 
  • Authorization to work in the United States; 
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish will be considered an asset; 
  • Willing and excited to work primarily on-site and be a part of the action; 
  • Excellent interpersonal, professional, and business communication skills (written included) to interact with external and internal stakeholders; 
  • Ability to self manage and work under pressure and manage tight deadlines.
