SCHOOL ADJUSTMENT COUNSELOR/CLINICAL CASE MANAGERSCHEDULE:40 hours weekly QUALIFICATIONS:Required: Master’s degree in counseling, psychology, social work or related field. Currently holds and maintains LCSW or LMHC and DESE licensure as a School Social Worker/School Adjustment Counselor. Strongly Preferred: Currently holds and maintains LICSW. Three years experience providing school based services to children/adolescents and consulting with school personnel. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to uphold confidentiality at all times. Knowledge of DESE laws/regulations and their application within a collaborative setting. Upholds ethical standards of professional license held.REPORTS TO:1. Program Director 2. Program Lead/Asst. Program Director 3. DesigneeSALARY: Professional Staff POSITION SUMMARY: The Clinician works directly under the supervision of the Program Director/ Program Lead or designee to provide direct and indirect services including but not limited to: Direct: assessment, development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs, individual and group counseling, crisis prevention and assessment, use of evidence based practices Indirect: case management, consultation and collaboration with multiple stakeholders including school personnel, families and community based agencies. The Clinician will provide consultation and feedback as needed to all Staff to ensure consistency in the implementation and fidelity of evidenced based practices. The Clinician will also work with all Staff to create a calm environment throughout the academic day including less structured activities such as arrival, transitions, lunch, recess and dismissal. Ability to be flexible, work collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team, and the ability to respond to crisis as needed. The Clinician will be committed to child centered, family system focused, culturally competent, trauma sensitive care and strength based approaches. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:The Clinician will: CLINICAL Clinical assessment, intervention, consultation and response for all program students;Individual/small group and classroom based counseling services on a scheduled basis;Curriculum planning and implementation for regular, ongoing, and proactive skills based groups;Develop and implement IEP’s that include a clear assessment of the students’ current functioning and an attainable goal and formulation of objectives that work towards the students’ needs in this area; Conduct appropriate therapeutic interventions for students who are not ready to engage in academic demands to ensure they enter classrooms when ready to engage appropriately;Maintain current and relevant training specific to evidenced based practices;Employ clinical procedures and CREST protocols with fidelity; Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions in order to make recommendations to the team;Provide oversight and supervision of interns as needed;Provide clinical coverage/consultation to other CREST programs as needed;Other duties relevant to the role as requested by the Program Director/ Program Lead or designee.MILIEUProvide clinical coverage/consultation to other CREST programs as needed;Ability to establish trusting, working relationships with staff, students, families, and other stakeholders;Contribute to regularly scheduled classroom, program and CREST meetings as required;Assist in program evaluation, maintenance, organization, and material preparation;Follow and implement all CREST policies and procedures, including demonstration of core values and norms in everyday practices and all interactions;Work as part of a interdisciplinary team to promote a physically and emotionally safe and healthy environment for students;Lead proactive prevention strategies to ensure students arrive to school ready and able to engage in academic schedule;Engage in direct and active supervision of students at all times;Train, coach, and support team members, specialists and related service providers on evidence based therapeutic principles and interventions for students including but not limited to student de-escalation, cognitive behavioral strategies, solution focused practices, positive behavioral interventions and supports, and restorative justice; Support the implementation and fidelity of crisis management plans and behavioral support plans;Listens to team member concerns and provides clarification when needed to ensure consistency;Has the ability to respond professionally to questions or concerns from multiple stakeholders and acts as a liaison to the team;Other duties relevant to the role as requested by the Program Director/ Program Lead or designee.CASE MANAGEMENTKnowledge of community based resources and facilitating family access as appropriate and needed;Knowledge and communication of current procedures and processes within the greater mental health system (e.g. crisis evaluation, emergency room admission and hospital process);Participation in case conferences, admission/discharge meetings and case conferences conducted by outside agencies; Provides consistent, confidential clear, factual and informative written and oral communication with families, collaterals, outside agencies/providers, and colleagues;Completion of data collection, documentation and reporting as assigned;Other duties relevant to the role as requested by the Program Director/ Program Lead or designee.WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Must be able to work in a fast paced environment and must be able to understand and maintain issues of confidentiality. The noise level in the work environment is conducive to a school. Physical Demands: The Clinician must have the ability to work and stand for longer periods of time. In addition, this position requires energy, stamina, and may require bending, stooping, stretching and lifting a minimum of 50 pounds. Regularly required to sit, talk, hear, stand and walk occasionally student restraint or moving students is required. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
