Work Schedule: Monday - Friday (9:00 AM - 5:00 PM)

Visitors pose questions, design solutions, explore phenomena, and work together to make amazing things happen. Located in Queens, one of the most diverse counties in the U.S., NYSCI welcomes 400,000 visitors annually, including families, students on field trips, and camp and after-school groups. NYSCI also works with thousands of teachers each year to make classroom science more relevant, exciting, and meaningful to students and conducts innovative research about how science learning happens through everyday experience. POSITION OVERVIEW
The New York Hall of Science (NYSCI) is seeking a talented and experienced Media Manager to join our dynamic and growing Marketing and Communications team. As the Media Manager, you will be responsible for developing and executing media strategies to promote NYSCI, with a strong focus on planning and buying digital and offline media, measuring media effectiveness, and leveraging data to drive visitors through the funnel to visit our world-renowned science center. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Media Strategy Development: Develop and implement comprehensive paid/owned/earned media strategies to increase awareness and engagement with NYSCI, aligned with the organization's goals and target audience.
Media Buying: Plan, negotiate, and execute media buys across digital and offline channels, including but not limited to social media, podcasts, search engine marketing, display advertising, print, outdoor/out-of-home, and radio.
Performance Tracking and Measurement: Monitor and evaluate media campaign performance using appropriate analytics tools, providing regular reports and insights to internal stakeholders. Continuously optimize campaigns based on data-driven insights.
Budget Management: Ensure effective allocation and management of media budgets, ensuring optimal return on investment (ROI) and adherence to financial guidelines.
Vendor Management: Collaborate with media agencies, vendors, and partners to develop and execute media campaigns, ensuring delivery on objectives, negotiating favorable terms, and maintaining strong relationships.
Data Analysis and Insights: Leverage data and analytics to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement in media effectiveness. Develop actionable insights and recommendations to drive web visitor traffic and conversions. Experience with database management, data visualization, and working with multiple reporting tools is required to present the results and interpretation of analytics tools.
Collaborative Partnerships: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Marketing, Creative, and Content, to align media strategies with broader marketing initiatives and campaigns.
Competitive Research: Stay updated on industry trends, emerging media platforms, and competitive landscape to inform media strategies and make recommendations for innovation and improvement.
Brand Alignment: Ensure that all media placements align with NYSCI's brand guidelines, messaging, and values.
Team Leadership: Provide guidance and mentorship to future junior associates and interns of the marketing team, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented work environment.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Advertising, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
5 years of experience in media planning, buying, and campaign management, preferably in a digital media environment.
Strong expertise in digital channels, including social media, podcasts, search engine marketing, and display advertising. Some experience with print, outdoor/out-of-home, and radio.
Proven track record of developing and executing successful media strategies and campaigns, with a focus on driving measurable results and ROI.
Proficiency in media analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, social media analytics) and experience in analyzing data, leveraging databases and customer tracking to inform media decision-making.
Strong technical skills across a range of CRM/database applications, prior experience in system administration, reporting and optimization
Up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, emerging media platforms, and best practices in media planning and buying.
Passion for innovation, science, education, and/or inspiring curiosity in STEM fields is a plus.
REQUIRED SKILLS
Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with media partners.
Strategic thinker with a data-driven mindset and ability to translate insights into actionable recommendations.
Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple campaigns simultaneously.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas and data to stakeholders at all levels.
