Organizational Background: NYSCI is New York City's science center, a place where everyone is invited to explore how science and engineering shape our world, and how we can use scientific tools and ideas to answer questions and solve problems. Visitors pose questions, design solutions, explore phenomena, and work together to make amazing things happen. Located in Queens, one of the most diverse counties in the U.S., NYSCI welcomes 400,000 visitors annually, including families, students on field trips, and camp and after-school groups. NYSCI also works with thousands of teachers each year to make classroom science more relevant, exciting, and meaningful to students and conducts innovative research about how science learning happens through everyday experience. Our exhibitions, programs, and products are informed by strategies of engagement called Design, Make, Play. POSITION OVERVIEW
The New York Hall of Science (NYSCI) seeks an experienced Growth Data Manager proficient across a range of analytics tools to join our dynamic and growing team. NYSCI is a world-renowned science and technology center and learning lab dedicated to providing innovative educational experiences that spark curiosity and nurture lifelong learning. Reporting directly to the Chief Marketing and Business Development Officer, the Growth Data Manager will leverage analytics tools and techniques to drive audience growth, engagement, and impact across various digital and onsite platforms.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Data Management, Analysis, and Strategy:
Create and leverage systems to collect, normalize, standardize, refine, and analyze data from diverse sources, encompassing website metrics, social media channels, ticketing systems, CRM databases, point-of-sale platforms, and visitor surveys.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify key insights and opportunities for growth based on data analysis.
Develop strategies and recommendations to optimize revenue generation, decrease operating expenses, enhance visitor experiences, and drive overall growth.
Forecasting and Planning:
Use historical data and predictive modeling techniques to forecast future revenue trends and visitor attendance.
Work closely with senior leadership to develop long-term growth plans and resource allocation strategies based on data-driven insights.
Data Transformation:
Lead the effort to transform NYSCI's data ecosystem into a visitor journey-driven model by streamlining and connecting or combining disparate data streams.
Identify opportunities to enhance data collection processes and implement best data governance and integrity practices.
Collaborate with IT and organizational stakeholders to implement tools and technologies that facilitate data integration and accessibility.
Reporting and Communication:
Develop and maintain regular reports and dashboards to track and trend key performance indicators (KPIs) related to revenue, visitor engagement, and growth initiatives.
Create reporting and communicate insights and recommendations to organizational stakeholders through clear and compelling presentations and reports.
Continuous Improvement:
Stay informed about emerging trends and best practices in data analytics, visitor engagement, and revenue generation within the nonprofit sphere.
Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies to enhance the effectiveness of data-driven decision-making at NYSCI.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Business Analytics, a related field; and/or its work experience equivalent advanced degree preferred.
3 years of experience in data analysis, preferably in a museum, cultural institution, or other visitor-centric setting.
Experience with venue ticketing, POS, CRM, and ERP systems preferred.
Proven track record of driving growth and revenue optimization through data-driven strategies.
Experience with data integration and transformation projects preferred.
REQUIREMENTS
Proficiency in data analysis tools and software (e.g., SQL, Python, R, Google Analytics, Tableau) and experience working with large and varied datasets.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
