Position Summary:

The Head Swim Coach and Aquatics Coordinator is a dual role which has oversight of pool and facility maintenance and coaches the Swim Team. This person will need to be able to solve on-the-job issues by utilizing effective critical thinking and decision making skills and possess the ability to work with diverse populations. The Head Swim Coach and Aquatics Coordinator must be able to enforce pool policies and be able to communicate effectively why policies are in place.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


Head Swim Coach

  • Responsible forrecruitment to secure pipeline of student athletes;
  • Manages swim team budget
  • Raises funds for events and supplies
  • Conducts swim practice including strength conditioning an in-water practice; provides coaching at Swim Meets.
  • Conducts lesson planning by writing student daily workouts (strength conditioning or in-water workouts)
  • Holds office hours to meet individually with students; ensures students are meeting academic requirements, etc.
  • Performs other duties as assigned


Aquatics Coordinator

  • Performs daily management and cleaning of the pool supplies, deliveries, vacuuming, sanitizing, etc.
  • Manages aquatics budget
  • Conducts weekly pool inspections and completes service report; adheres to compliance with Fire Marshall Codes and maintaining logs and checklist for tracking and compliance purposes
  • Deep Checks are done prior to each semester, and in early February prior to annual health inspection; collaborative effort with Maintenance; walkthrough conducted and wear and tear is fixed
  • Maintains equipment storage and disposal by storing and disposing of equipment
  • Oversight of attendance and events being on-site and available anytime pool is open and operating; includes Academy and College events
  • Supervises lifeguards and ensures in-services and training are current. Communicate and enforce all CRS and pool policies and rules in a personable and professional manner.

POSITION KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

  • 3-5 years of swim coach experience
  • 2-3 years of pool facility and maintenance experience
  • Ability to react to emergency situations by quick movements, strenuous activity, and on occasion assist or lift persons in distress of varying weights.
  • Required to remain alert to dangerous situations while sitting, standing or walking for various lengths of time.


Required Qualifications:

  • Standard Certifications/Credentials required for this role include: USA Swimming Certification and NCAA Certification
  • Standard Certifications/Credentials required for this role include: Life guard, CPR, AED, Lifeguard Instructor (LGI) and CPO (Certified Pool Operator).
  • Current CPR/ First Aid/AED Certifications Required.
  • High School Diploma, or GED; Associates Degree or combination of education, standard certifications and experience desired. Bachelor’s Degree, preferred, but not required.

Physical/Environmental Requirements:

  • While performing the responsibilities of the Head Swim Coach and Aquatics Coordinator, the employee is required to stand, bend, and walk for varying lengths of time; reach, lift, push, and pull up to 25 pounds; occasionally kneel and regularly ascend/descend stairs; use hands and fingers to handle or feel and manipulate keys on a keyboard; perform extended periods of work at a computer workstation, view a computer monitor; perceive sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction, and receive detailed information through oral communication; express and exchange ideas by means of spoken word; and work in an office setting.
