About Glenelg Country School

Glenelg Country School is a non-sectarian, co-educational, college preparatory school serving students from age 2 through grade 12 on 90-acre campus just minutes from Columbia, MD, with approximately 800 students.

Overview of Essential Functions

• Teaching history in a multidisciplinary course introducing conflicts and exchanges between Western Europe and the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and Latin America, with an emphasis on early modern and modern eras.• Adopting non-Western texts, art, and perspectives to move the course beyond the horizons of a traditional Euro-centric curriculum.• Collaborating effectively in a team of three to craft and refine a consistent experience for all tenth-grade students in both Honors and On-Level groups.

The successful candidate will bring to GCS a love of working with adolescents and the ability to differentiate instruction among a wide range of learners with appropriate educational technologies. GCS is a thriving community built on the holistic development of its students. All full-time Upper School teachers contribute to clubs and enrichment activities and advise a group of ten or eleven students for their entire Upper School career.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to listen, physically direct, and speak with others. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus with screens, white boards, printed material, and ability to see children in detail. The employee must be able to lift at least thirty pounds. The employee is also regularly required to climb two flights of stairs.
