Material Handler supports the Materials Management Department. Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision and have some experience using ERP systems and Microsoft Office. Experience picking parts using a scanner and packing parts for shipment required. DOT medical exam required to drive company vehicles. Temporary to a permanent position.
Essential Functions or Responsibilities:
- Communicates effectively and efficiently with internal and external customers and suppliers.
- Reviews sales orders, picks part(s) and packages them for shipment.
- Reviews documentation prior to packing to ensure corrected part has been picked.
- Provides copies of line reject forms to the appropriate Buyer and works with KCC Purchasing and suppliers to return defective parts to suppliers.
- Provides KCC Finance/Accounting and Materials Manager a spreadsheet of defective parts monthly.
- Organizes materials in the warehouse and in the lot to make parts picking and counting easier.
- Performs inventory cycle counts when requested.
- Assists Purchasing with monthly WIP inventory counts as needed.
- Assists with Year End Inventory tasks as needed.
- Disposes of obsolete or damaged parts as assigned.
- Safely uses the company vehicle to pick up purchased parts when requested.
- Safely operates various pieces of warehouse equipment (Forklifts etc.)
- Actively participate as a member of the team to move the team towards completion of goals.
- Takes the initiative to find, identify and propose changes to processes not working well.
- Brief Management on a weekly basis on the status of claims and warranty returns.
- Collect, separate and store excess and scrap metal for disposition.
- Coordinate with vendors the collection of scrap metal from KCC.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
- GED or High School Diploma.
- Proficient understanding of basic math functions (add, subtract, multiply, divide)
- Ability to work independently, multi-task, and communicate effectively.
- Possess a strong team spirit.
- Working knowledge of ERP systems and Microsoft Office programs, Excel, Word and Outlook
- Ability to be flexible to adapt to changing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Capable of lifting/moving boxes weighing 50 lbs or less
- Must pass background check and drug test
- DOT medical exam required to operate company vehicles
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Requires bending, stooping and standing.
- Must be able to stand from six (6) to eight (8) hours per day. (Overtime may extend the time period.)
- Good visual and spatial perception.
- Follow established safety policies including, but not limited to, mobile equipment, PPE, emergency response, HAZCOM, first-aid response, etc.

This is a full-time position working 8 hours per day with possible overtime.
