HHRI is Hiring a Project Coordinator Near Minneapolis, MN

The Hennepin Healthcare Research Institute (HHRI) has a current opening for a research Project Coordinator to support the research of Drs. Jason Baker, Anne Frosch, Kristina Burrack, Jenell Stewart and Amanda Noska being conducted at Hennepin Healthcare's HCMC Infectious Diseases department.

This is a full-time, benefit earning position based primarily onsite in downtown Minneapolis, MN with the ability to telework at times.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Project Coordinator will support the work of the Infectious Diseases research programs at HHRI. The position will primarily be responsible for management of study data and specimens, including, database planning, building, maintenance and queries. Additional work scope will include the creation of database reports in REDCap or other software solutions, such as R. The Project coordinator will also assist with sponsored project fiscal and operational needs, including: project budget preparation and monitoring, grant proposal planning and submissions and reports.

The Project Coordinator will coordinate data management and data queries, including database builds and entry. This will include biological specimen tracking and management, receipt and shipping of biological specimens (blood and blood derivatives - serum/plasma and cells). Additional tasks include monitoring fiscal and administrative activities satisfying institutional, regulatory and funding guidelines and requirements. Monitor project budgets in 'real-time' and coordinating daily activities to meet milestones for sponsored research projects. Coordinate pre and post award project budgets, study implementation and project support in accordance with sponsor and institutional regulations, policies and guidelines.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Project Data and Specimen Management:

    • Perform database development and data entry to maintain study and program records.
    • Perform data quality initivates, generate data queries, identify data trends, utilize logic and functions to recode or interpolate missing data fields.
    • Develop and provide database reporting.
    • Provide support for biological specimen management, handling, shipping and storage.

    Project and program operational financial management:

    • Analyze trends in data to estimate staff effort, costs of medical and lab supplies, and additional study recourses to ensure successful completion of study milestones.
    • Submission of invoices for payment
    • Budget/expenditure reconciliation, study and laboratory supply procurement
    • Monitor and maintain study petty cash funds in accordance with established institutional guidelines.
    • Coordinate vendor contracts for services.

    Coordination of biomedical and clinical research:

    • Reviews and interprets study data in an organized and precise fashion to maintain data integrity.
    • Maintains accurate patient files and logs.
    • Provide support and services to Physician Investigators, laboratory and research team members
    • Conducts research and maintains study records consistent with GCP and in compliance with HHRI, FDA, sponsor, funder and other relevant stakeholders.
    • Tracks disbursement of funds to study participants on a timely basis.
    • Responsible for protocol adherence, procedural adherence, and compliance.
    • Perform data entry and computer maintenance tasks.
    • Monitor and maintain necessary laboratory and study supply levels, place orders for study and laboratory supplies and equipment, as needed.
    • Complete IRB and other regulatory submissions, including subsequent annual reporting

    Grant and award support:

    • Preparation of project budgets, using framework required for NIH or foundation grant applications
    • Create quarterly and annual reports (as mandated by funder)
    • Assist with the assembly of research data reports and presentations
    • Complete funding agency application documents, biographical sketches, budgets, justification, and other support, resources, facilities and checklists (e.g. NIH grant applications)

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS:

Education/Experience:

Minimum qualifications would be a baccalaureate degree and at least one (1) year of related work experience with the specified research field, such as, an academic environment conducting research with extramural funding. Maintain required study or institutional related training/certification. Clinical trial experience, data entry experience, Previous experience with REDCap or querying relational databases (MySQL, Oracle, etc.) or experience coding in SAS, R or other programing languages preferred. Hazmat certification, interest/experience in HIV and infectious disease research preferred. Additionally, experience with writing and preparing documents required for federal grant proposals, as well as managing budgets is preferred.

Skill, Knowledge & Ability (SKA):

Required:

Requires interaction with a diverse population, institution administrators, physicians and non-physician clinic and research staff. Ability to follow standard operating procedures and techniques for a medical laboratory when performing tests. Ability to work with minimal supervision and be highly organized, efficient and possess good manual dexterity to handle specimens. Ability to maintain strict adherence to research protocols. Ability to work independently within guidelines, be organized, establish priorities, manage work-scope to meet key programmatic and funding/sponsor deadlines, and work collaboratively with others. Effective written and oral communication skills. Displays high standards of attendance, punctuality, maintains confidentiality, and manages time effectively. High-level proficiency or expertise in using Microsoft Excel. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Access, and PowerPoint.
