JOB GOAL: Under direction of the site principal the Welding teacher plans, develops, and conducts classes that follow the Arizona state standards for a qualified CTE program, acts as advisor in the Skills USA student organization, and supervises the high school student work-based learning in accordance with the Arizona CTE Qualified Program guidelines.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid Arizona Teaching Certificate in the appropriate subject area:

Welding Technology: SCTIET Standard Career and Technical Education Industrial and Emerging Technologies

SSCTEIET Standard Specialized Career and Technical Education Industrial and Emerging Technologies

  • Valid Fingerprint Card is required.
  • CTE Certified in appropriate subject area or ability to obtain the CTE Certification through Industry Experience, Degree, Industry Certifications, or a combination of education and experience that leads to certification.
  • Demonstrates organizational ability.
  • Clear and professional communication skills (verbal and written)

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  1. Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the needs, interests, and abilities of individuals to ensure student achievement.
  2. Creates a classroom environment that provides for student involvement in the learning process and enables each student to achieve learning objectives, including those related to personal safety and industrial safety standards.
  3. Provides an instructional program to meet the needs of all students including students with disabilities.
  4. Prepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor.
  5. Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and in harmony with the goals, establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects and the like to communicate these objectives.
  6. Establishes learning objectives consistent with appraisal of student needs; requirements of the districts curriculum framework, and knowledge of student growth and development.
  7. Plans for and utilizes instructional methods, resources and evaluation techniques which motivate and enable each student to achieve learning objectives that incorporate all CTE best practices. Plans include sharing of equipment and gear with other programs.
  8. Diagnoses the learning disabilities of students on a regular basis, seeking the assistance of Exceptional Students staff as required. Provides input when necessary to students IEP’s.
  9. Takes all necessary and safety precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
  10. Maintains accurate and complete records as required by law, CGUHSD policy and administrative regulation. Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct and, for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
  11. Makes provision for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
  12. Establishes professional relationships with colleagues, students, parents and community which reflect recognition of and respect for every individual.
  13. Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for paraprofessionals and volunteers. May evaluate paraprofessional’s job performance with department chairs and/or administrators.
  14. Appraises own effectiveness and demonstrates successful application of skills and information acquired to increase effectiveness. Strives to maintain and improve professional competence through professional development.
  15. Participates in school management and shares the responsibility for the total school program. Attends staff meetings, PLC’s and serves on staff committees as required. 
  16. Coordinate textbook adoption process within department.
  17. Through the Skills USA Framework will assist students to develop those attitudes and skills in leadership, citizenship and human relations which will contribute to their personal success.
  18. Adhere to deadlines set forth by the State and National Skills USA Student Organization for membership, dues, awards and leadership activities.
  19. Develop and conduct a complete Skills USA program of activities that adheres to state and national guidelines.
  20. Follow all district inventory control and procurement procedures.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Certified calendar
  • No Benefits due to Part-Time position
  • Placement on Certified salary schedule dependent upon education and experience.
  • This is a contracted position.
  • Ability to travel with students for Skills USA activities, sometimes overnight and/or out of state.

EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
