POSITION SUMMARY:

To scale our current impact, Casa Grande Union High School District is advancing a major expansion program taking fundamental responsibility for the communities we serve.

The English Advisor will assist the Principal/Headmaster in providing a positive impact of student learning through personalizing our students educational and social needs, as well as, enhancing student achievement. Advisors play a role in establishing a learner-centered culture and mindset. The responsibility of navigating and personalizing the learning process is a complex, but fundamental responsibility for our advisors. Building relationships is at the core of any successful advisory and focuses on five areas: Group Leader, Learning Designer, World of Work Manager, Family Liaison, and Success Coach.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid Arizona Educator Certificate in the appropriate subject area
  • Valid Fingerprint Card
  • Highly Qualified in appropriate subject area
  • Demonstrates organizational ability
  • Clear and professional communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Strong habits of work

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Designs learning experiences that, as much as possible, meets the needs, interests and abilities of individuals to ensure student achievement and overall growth.
  • Creates a learning environment that provides for student involvement in the learning process and enables each student to display evidence of competency through personal reflection and performance.
  • Provides support that enables all students to thrive.
  • Prepares for learning experiences and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor.
  • Guides the learning process toward the achievement of individual learning plans (ILP’s) and in harmony with the goals, establishes clear real-world connections for all lessons, units, projects and the like to communicate these ILP goals.
  • Establishes learning objectives consistent with appraisal of student needs; requirements of the school's curriculum framework, and knowledge of student growth and development.
  • Plans for and utilizes instructional methods, resources and evaluation techniques which motivate and enable each student to achieve learning goals.
  • Provides input when necessary to students Individualized Education Plan/Individualized Learning Plan. 
  • Takes all necessary and safety precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
  • Maintains accurate and complete records as required by law, CGUHSD policy and administrative regulation.
  • Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct and, for the learning environment, develops reasonable rules of environment behavior and procedure, and maintains order in the learning environment in a fair and just manner.
  • Makes provision for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms of the professional day.
  • Establishes professional relationships with colleagues, students, parents and community which reflect recognition of and respect for every individual.
  • Plans and supervises purposeful experiences for paraprofessionals, mentors, and volunteers. 
  • Appraises own effectiveness and demonstrates successful application of skills and information acquired to increase effectiveness.
  • Strives to maintain and improve professional competence through on-going professional development.
  • Participates in school management and shares the responsibility for the total school program.
  • Attends staff meetings, PLC’s, and serves on staff committees as required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • May evaluate Inspiring Excellence Coaches job performance with department chairs and/or administrators.

TRAVEL:

Occasional travel may be required for site visits, meetings, trainings and/or conferences. Locations may vary and may require overnight stays.
